Taylor Swift is flying high, but so are her carbon emissions. Amid her headline-grabbing romance with Kansas City Chiefs‘ Travis Kelce, the pop sensation is taking a hailstorm of criticism for what some call a fumble in empathy and responsibility. Is her claim to be an ‘ethical billionaire’ facing an interception?
Swift was named the biggest celebrity CO2 polluter of the year in 2022, and it seems like she’s on track for a potential back-to-back claim to the title as she clocks more airtime with Kelce. While aviation contributes to 2.5% of global emissions, Swift is a frequent flyer, with her own private. Her carbon footprint has a league of its own, surprising even Swift’s most ardent defenders.

While Taylor Swift might be scoring touchdowns with her wildly successful Eras Tour, environmentalists are drawing attention to her excessive carbon emissions. Over the past three months, the ‘Bad Blood’ singer has been jet-setting more than ever. Making a whopping twelve flights to connect with her man in Kansas City and celebrate her birthday blitz in the Big Apple.
According to the Daily Mail, the songstress has stacked up a staggering 138 tons of CO2 emissions in this short timeframe. To offset the damage caused by her frequent air miles, Swift would need to plant more than 2,200 trees and patiently let them grow for a decade.
As per the Greenhouse Gas Equivalencies Calculator, that’s almost the same amount of energy used by 17 houses in one year. Further, three months of her journeys to see Travis have used up 12,622 gallons of jet fuel.
Did you know her recent biggest trip was from Sao Paulo in Brazil to Kansas City with a stopover in Tampa, Florida? DailyMail’s report claimed that the entire journey used up about 4,151 gallons of fuel. That would cost approximately $23, 250.
Taylor Swift’s aerial fleet, consisting of a Dassault Falcon 7x and a Dassault Falcon 900, has been clocking in serious airtime.

Following the 2022 pollution rankings, the ‘Folklore’ icon’s carbon footprint has raised eyebrows. According to a spokesperson, Taylor Swift generously loans her Falcon 7X jet to fellow celebrities for international flights, attempting to pass the ball and share the responsibility.

The stats, however, tell a different tale. A staggering 12,622 gallons of jet fuel has been burned on all of Swift’s recent excursions, ringing up a tab that would make even the most seasoned quarterback blink. With a calculated worth of approximately $70,779, it seems like her jet-setting lifestyle comes with a hefty price tag.
The spokesperson also revealed that before the Eras Tour kicked off, the singer had purchased more than double the carbon credits needed. This means the excess credits could have covered her latest romance, enabling her to fly frequently to show her support for Kansas City Chiefs games.
