Nick Sirianni silences the doubters—Is he the coach the Eagles have been waiting for?

Clutch season! The Eagles left the best for late and voila, the victory was up for grabs against the Saints. 15-12 the final scorecard. And it does not reflect the hard work and grit shown by Philly on the way. But that’s what head coach Nick Sirianni is there for. He was not letting the day end without his team getting the due credit.

“You’re always going to have people saying different things about you. And they went out there and they played their ass off. I’m gonna get emotional,” Sirianni said during the post-game presser. But you cannot blame a guy for standing up against the surrounding noise.

That noise only got louder after Sirianni’s rather panicky decision-making in the game. Take that fourth-and-1 fake “tush push” right before halftime as an example. Instead of sneaking Jalen Hurts, he opted for a handoff to Saquon Barkley, which the Saints’ defense shut down.

It’s the kind of call that leaves fans scratching their heads. But Sirianni didn’t shy away from the blame, saying, “That was my decision. I did it. It didn’t work, and I’ll get better from it.” Still, you’ve got to wonder, why not just take the easy three points there?

That’s just one. And it wasn’t just that play, though. Throughout the game, you could see the moments where simple textbook stuff would have done the job for the Eagles, but they were trying to reach for the stars. The FOX crew put it perfectly: It’s almost like they’re reaching for something special.”

The players have got Nick Sirianni’s back!

Have an interesting take?

Nick Sirianni went for it again on fourth-and-4 in the third quarter, and Hurts got sacked. Another missed opportunity for points. These calls, combined with penalties and turnovers, are making fans question whether the Eagles’ issues run deeper than just a few bad decisions.

And honestly, how much of that is on Sirianni? The fundamentals—like too many men on the field and a blocked punt—are things that need to be cleaned up fast if they want to keep winning. Hence why the criticism is there.

Despite all this, Sirianni remains confident his players have his back. “You’re going to have small losses… Whether it’s me going for it and we don’t get it,” he said. His guys—like Barkley and Gardner-Johnson—have told him they’re with him no matter what. “I can’t tell you how many times Saquon (Barkley) and Jordan Mailata and Chauncey (Gardner-Johnson) came up to me, is like, ‘Man, we got your back. We got your back, coach!’ I mean, that’s (special).”

It’s all wonderful until these mistakes cost them a playoff spot. So, what do you think? Can Sirianni learn from these mistakes, or will this shaky decision-making keep haunting the Eagles?
