The Jets have a long history of Super Bowl droughts, only winning once in 1969. Their persisting star QB, Aaron Rodgers, who will turn 41 before the regular season ends, faces challenges such as recovering from a torn Achilles. Despite controversies, Rodgers is the Jets’ best hope for a Super Bowl win.

Rodgers breaking the Jets’ 55-year Super Bowl curse would cement his quarterback legacy in the league. It would place him in the “Greatest of All Time” (GOAT) conversation, given the rarity of winning multiple Super Bowls with different teams and his already impressive four MVP titles. On the NFL on ESPN podcast Harry Douglas and Damien Woody shared insights on Aaron’s potential and Super Bowl winning.

Harry Douglas, a former wide receiver for the Tennessee Titans said, “Troy Aumua and Joe Montana who have more than two to be considered one of the greatest of all time. I do believe you have to have more than one Super Bowl but it’s also telling me that Aaron Rodgers hasn’t lived up to his billing or his elite status.”

He further said that Rodgers appeared only in one Super Bowl in 2010, which he won against the  Pittsburgh Steelers, and didn’t get the opportunity to win another because he did not appear in more than one. “I think that is the space where a lot of people are frowning… and they want to see him get one more to be deemed an elite company,” Douglas observes on the QB’s GOAT status. Nonetheless, in the conversation, former NFL guard Damien Woody highlighted Rodgers’ unique potential.

Woody said, “We need to talk about Rodgers not just winning multiple Super Bowls, but doing it with two different teams. That’s rare in NFL history. Combine that with his four MVPs, and Rodgers stands out.” Damien’s statements reflect a strong belief in Aaron Rodgers’ unique potential and significance in NFL history. This indicates Woody’s view that Rodgers’ success with the New York Jets could elevate him to an elite status in football history.

Not only Harry and Woody, but Jets center Joe Tippmann recently shared his admiration for Rodgers.

Aaron, a reliable force in the Jets

In a press interaction after a training session, Tippmann expressed how incredible it has been to work with Rodgers. Joe said, “Aaron, he is a great presence in the huddle. Outside of the huddle, he’s just like always making recommendations. He doesn’t just tell me, he teaches me something that I didn’t understand. He’s gonna run it back and explain it to me as to how he sees it. That’s something that has really helped me.”

Tippmann is not the only one who feels this way. Jets star defensive tackle Quinnen Williams also spoke highly of Rodgers. According to the New York Jets, Williams has been amazed by the effort Rodgers puts into football, especially considering his 20 years of experience and multiple MVP awards. Williams believes that seeing someone with such experience, and intelligence work so hard has a positive impact on everyone around him.

Aaron has proven to be a valuable leader and mentor for the New York Jets. His influence could help propel the Jets to significant success in the upcoming season.
