It’s never a dull day in the NFL. First, we had a thrilling Super Bowl ride, and now we’re deep into the offseason chaos, where anything can happen. Who’s signing where, who’s getting shown the door, and Which teams are scrambling to build the ultimate roster? All of this is keeping us engaged these days. As every team makes its moves, the Chargers are right in the thick of it. After a Wild Card Round exit that left fans heartbroken, the team is busy tweaking and adjusting. And they’re spending some cash to get things right. But amidst all the roster changes, Joey Bosa‘s future is looking shakier.
The news is that the Chargers have locked in safety Elijah Molden in their latest roster moves. The team signed an extension with Molden worth $18.75 million. The 26-year-old joined the Chargers after the Titans traded him for a seventh-round pick. A broken fibula sidelined him from the final regular-season game and the Wild Card Round. The Washington alum suited up for 15 games with the team. In those games, Molden racked up three interceptions, seven pass breakups, two fumble recoveries, and 75 tackles along the way.

Looking at those numbers, it’s easy to see why the Chargers didn’t think twice about locking him in. But right now, the bigger question is his injury -has he fully recovered? Or is he still working his way back? The team would want him in his best health after spending that cash on him. If he stays consistent, this deal could be a win-win for the Chargers.
So, Elijah would be happy to find a stable home with the LA Chargers. But on the other hand, LB Joey Bosa might have to find a new home elsewhere.
Chargers to release Joey Bosa?
What’s cooking between the Chargers and Joey? Whatever it is, it sure isn’t something sweet. The Chargers are looking to cut Joey Bosa after nine seasons with the team. Oh boy, that stings like nothing else. But welcome to the dark side of the NFL -this is how things work when you have to manage the best under a certain budget. Though there’s been no official word from either the team or Joey, an ESPN reporter has predicted things that might not be in favor of the Chargers’ longtime LB.
According to ESPN’s Dan Graziano, the LA Chargers will ‘likely’ part ways with Joey Bosa this season. The noise is growing louder, as the LB was a target last year too. But back then, Joey had discussions about ‘restructuring his deal’ and ultimately stayed. Now, once again this year, the Chargers might put him on their cut list.

So, here is the whole situation. In March, Bosa is set to pocket $13 million in base salary, and on top of that, a $12.3 million roster bonus. The LB’s cap hit for 2025 is a hefty $36.4 million. And here is where the Chargers are playing clever. If they decide to cut him, they’d be on the hook for $11.1 million in dead cap. This would free up a big chunk of cap space for them. And with this move, they will have more flexibility to sign new talent or extend key players.
Now, that doesn’t look good for Joey, who has been a key player for the Chargers’ defense. But the front office has to do what it has to do. Do you agree with their calls?
