This offseason, Dak Prescott is devoting his time to a noble cause. Last year, the Dallas Cowboys quarterback urged people to get tested for colon cancer and raised awareness for early detection. Now, once again, he is set to join the board of cancer fund to help the needy.
The quarterback’s longing to help cancer patients started when his mother, Peggy, died from colon cancer (the second deadliest cancer in the world) in 2013 when he was still in college. Since then, the 30-year-old athlete has been tirelessly working for cancer patients, especially the kids. The quarterback recently collaborated with former NFL quarterback Troy Aikman for a philanthropic cause.

In December 2023, Dak Prescott “volunteered to film a PSA video in collaboration with the Colorectal Cancer Alliance’s Lead from Beyond campaign.” This time again, in the offseason, Prescott and former quarterback Troy Aikman, joined forces as honorary chairs for the Children’s Cancer Fund. They introduced 23 pediatric patients who will participate in a fashion show and gala in April. The event aims to raise over $2 million to enhance treatment for children facing various forms of cancer.
The Children’s Fund Gala, celebrating 34 years of stories of survival, is scheduled for Friday, April 19, 2024, at the Hilton Anatole Dallas. The evening will include a silent auction, VIP reception, dinner, live auction, and a fashion show featuring cancer patients starting at 6 p.m.
As Prescott earlier mentioned, “my purpose and my reason I’m at this platform is not for football, it’s to share my story. It’s to inspire others,” he is truly inspiring millions to join hands for a healthy future and free from cancer world. It is because of his determination and selfless work for the needy that he learned from his mother, and now has helped him earn the respect and love of his fans.
Beyond the gridiron: Dak Prescott’s efforts got him a philanthropic award!
In February 2022, Dak Prescott was honored with Walter Payton Man of the Year for his charitable foundation work, focusing on cancer research in memory of his mother and prevention for his brother. The award is given to an NFL player who demonstrates excellence both on and off the field.

During his acceptance speech, Prescott expressed gratitude to those who supported him, including his family, the Cowboys organization, and the contributors to his Faith Fight Finish Foundation. He also highlighted the profound influence of his mother, Peggy, describing her as a moral compass, and emphasized his commitment to sharing her strength and courage through his charitable efforts.
On the same day of working for children via the Fund Gala, Prescott finally graced his fans with an exciting update. The quarterback, after the big news, announced that he had become a father on February 29, revealing the name of his daughter as “baby MJ.” He also shared that both the baby and mother (Prescott’s girlfriend Sarah Jane Ramos) are doing fine.
