After a 3-24 loss against the New York Jets, the Patriots offensive line is under fire from all sides. With 139 yards and 2.9 yards per attempt, the visitors didn’t hold their ground. Head Coach Jerod Mayo came to the rescue when his O-line was being criticized. He claimed that the problem could be corrected internally. Now, Jacoby Brissett, the leader of the locker room, has joined the HC.

The quarterback echoed the coach’s perspective. When asked about the hits he has taken in the games, the QB said, “Just keep getting up.” He followed it with a message of hope for the offense, which was, “It’s hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel, but it’s coming. They’re going to settle in.” The earlier the offense settles, the better it will be for the team.

While the team is working to find a solution to their O-line problems, Jacoby Brissett’s fitness is also a worry. In 3 games, he has been sacked 9 times with 25 hits. Many fans believe that given the hits the quarterback has taken, an injury is around the corner. But the signal-caller isn’t holding back from giving his 100% on the field and off of it.

While talking to reporters after practice on the 25th of September, the QB shared an interesting take. Brissett revealed that he thought about his career choices during the offseason. It includes his injuries, his favorite plays, and his mindset going into the 2024 season. And he is using those stories to inspire the locker room.

That’s why Jacoby Brissett is important. They can’t afford an injury to him. Cause if that happens, the burden will fall on the rookie’s shoulders.

Can Drake Maye replace Jacoby Brissett?

Before the season started, Jerod Mayo said that they wanted their rookie QB to go through a process. While some fans have the opinion that Maye is ready for action, some think that he still needs time. All of this might not be considered if Jacoby Brissett gets injured, as he is the only suitable alternative at the Pats.

Let’s look at the stats to find out if the rookie can take over the veteran’s spot. In his debut NFL game (against the Jets), Maye had 4 of 8 passes with 22 passing yards. He also had 12 rushing yards. But he was sacked twice and took 5 hits. Looks like he needs game time to find his groove.

Other than Drake Maye and Jacoby Brissett, the Pats don’t have much depth in their quarterback department. They wouldn’t like a scenario in which Joe Milton has to play a rookie himself. Some analysts believe that the team should add an experienced QB to their roster. For now, the locker room is content.

Has the coach and the QB influenced the O-line enough to deliver results? The Pats are already reeling at a 1-2 win-loss record. Another loss will make the season difficult for them. Fans need a win. Stay tuned!
