The Philadelphia Eagles might soon have a void in its defense as rumors of Haason Reddick leaving the team emerge. After reports of him receiving permission for trade, the linebacker is sure to be one of the most sought-after picks of the draft. But a recent post by Reddick sidelined those rumors and confirmed his intentions of staying in Philadelphia.
After an impressive 2023 season vouching for his worth, Reddick has one year left in his $45 million contract. The burning question still stands despite the linebacker making his wishes of being retained by the Eagles clear. Will Reddick be traded? And if he does, where will he land for the next season?

After news of Reddick asking the Eagles for a trade went viral, the linebacker came forward on X to deny the rumors and clear the air. He replied to a post shared by NFL Insider Jordan Schulz of the BleacherReport, containing his statement on the topic.
Just spoke to #Eagles All-Pro pass-rusher Haason Reddick, who tells me he never requested a trade and he wants to stay in Philadelphia. “I would like to get an extension done here at home. At no point did I ever tell the organization I want to be traded.”

He said, “I would like to get an extension done here at home. At no point did I ever tell the organization I want to be traded. This is home for me. I was born and raised here. Two of the most fun years playing football in my life came here. I’ve cherished being an Eagle.”
However, Reddick is not blindsided by the complexities that arise in forming a team, and teams are but a business. The linebacker had expressed in another tweet that although he wishes to remain in Philadelphia, he will be prepared for whatever comes next his way after the current contract period gets over.
What could be Haason Reddick’s next destination?
There hasn’t been any official announcement regarding Reddick from the Eagles, so all options remain on the table for the star. The team’s need for a pass-rusher is more evident than ever, so the possibility of him leaving the team for a new home doesn’t seem too improbable. The 29-year-old had a successful season in 2023, with 11 sacks and 38 tackles under his belt.
If he continues in Philadelphia, his salary is supposed to be $14.3 million in addition to a million worth of bonus pending for March 15. Reddick also has the highest cap amount for next season, with a sum of $21.8 million. According to the PFF, the top landing spot for a linebacker in the coming season would be the Seattle Seahawks since the team has two pending free agents and a change of coach.

With Mike McDonald as the new HC, the chances of both Bobby Wagner and Jordyn Brooks being retained seem slim. But the top candidate for the switch in Seattle seems to be Patrick Queen, considering that he’s played with McDonald in the past.

That leaves us with the Carolina Panthers, who have rumors of losing their linebacker, Frankie Luvu. The Panthers seem to be the most probable team for Reddick to join, having played with the team in 2021. There were also rumors of him going to Houston Texans, but so far, no further information has emerged regarding the same.
