In the Green Bay Packers vs Philadelphia Eagles game on Friday, the leader of the green and gold, Jordan Love, faced a major hit on his left leg that could slightly derail his 2024 NFL season. The player reportedly faced a high ankle injury, or MCL sprain, with many speculating it’s an ACL injury. Later, coach Matt LaFleur also cut a disappointing figure stating they were “very concerned”, and the team would “wait to find out when we do more tests.”
The incident in question happened with six seconds remaining in the Packers’ 34-29 loss to the Eagles. After Love threw a 33-yard completion to wide receiver, Jayden Reed, to get his team to the midfield, defenders—Jalen Carter and Josh Sweat—in the next play. Carter was seen holding Love’s left leg while his teammate pushed the QB to the ground. He landed awkwardly and was seen writhing in pain before being helped off the field by team doctor Pat McKenzie and head trainer Nate Weir.
As Love’s fate hangs in the air, losing him can derail Green Bay’s hopes of winning the Super Bowl this year. As the highest-paid player in this offseason, Love started all 17 games last season. He led the Packers to the postseason by going 6-2 with 18 touchdowns and only one interception over the final eight games. Those were tough shoes to fill for someone like Mark Willis, who joined the team in late August, as a backup for the final two plays on Friday. He threw one incompletion and was sacked in the game’s last play.

In the meantime, the man “responsible” for the debacle, Eagles’ Jalen Carter finally spoke on the mishap, as he continues to battle the Cheeseheads’ wrath—more specifically, an overfilled Instagram DM filled with unpleasant messages. Sharing a screenshot of the hateful and racist comments, the defensive tackle stated,
“Making a football play; wishing Jordan the best recovery!”
While many agreed Carter was just doing his job, one person messaged him, “Ayo, u should be fired for what u did to Jordan Love.” Other DMs read, “man f-ck you for injuring Jordan Love,” and “You’re a dirty player.” Not only that, some even advised him to learn the role of his position by writing, “Ur so soft, learn how to tackle.” After the game, in a show of sportsmanship, the Eagles QB Jalen Hurts approached the hurt player for a handshake and a hug. But that meant next to nothing to calm the Bay City.
As for Jalen Carter, imagine being the No. 9 pick in the NFL draft. Now add the weight of replacing a legend like Fletcher Cox on the Eagles’ defensive line. That’s what Carter was facing ahead of the game. In just nine weeks, he showed his potential with 29 pressures, four sacks, and 20 hurries. This man known as “Breadman” was determined ahead of the Week 1 game, as he mentioned,
“I got a lot on my shoulder, and I’m ready to step up to the plate and show what I can do.” However, now with the recent unfortunate situation that happened in the game, the pressure has definitely increased manifold.

Jordan Love might take three months to recover?
If the speculation of his ACL injury is true, then Jordan Love might take about three months to return to the gridiron. As a report stated “prompt repair and focused rehab can ensure a rapid return to full activities usually by three months after repair”, we can expect to be back in December. Unfortunately, neither the player nor his team have provided any updates as they await the test results with bated breath.

But by that time, it would be impossible for him to lead his team to the playoffs if they constantly lose games in his absence. Besides Jalen Carter, Philly’s star, Jason Kelce also took to X to share his wishes for the QB. He wrote, “Hopefully Jordan Love is okay, love watching him play, was quietly a little nervous about this one, big win for the Good Guys.”
Wait till September 7 to find out what his results say. Rest assured, we’ll keep you updated!
