The Philadelphia Eagles did not like it when Dom DiSandro was told to exit the 49ers game after a heated incident. To counter the decision and share an appreciation for him, the home fans also gave a standing ovation to the 44-year-old. But it seems like the league has its rules set in the case.

According to the latest build-up, the Eagles’ security head cannot be present on the sidelines during their next game against the Cowboys. DiSandro can continue his regular duties and activities, but the league has prohibited him from taking the field as a punishment for the Dre Greenlaw incident. But was it a correct decision, given the linebacker’s record?

Dom DiSandro gets further restrictions from the league

The Cowboys game is a big one for the Eagles, as they look for redemption following the home defeat at the hands of the 49ers. But the NFL itself has made the divisional match-up more eventful, with the breaking coming from NFL insider Adam Schefter. The post stated that the team met with the league’s commissioner Roger Goodell and decided if even further actions were to be taken.

While a few days ago it was reported that the league was looking into the matter, in a surprising revelation DiSandro has faced the consequence rather than Greenlaw. While Greenlaw was thought to be fined for the incident, he managed to escape any consequences. Greenlaw was the one to engage physically first, as the video footage suggests. But for some reason, the league doesn’t think the same, and they have handed the first restriction to the Eagles’ camp.

Obviously, the 49ers HC Kyle Shanahan thinks differently about that. “I just can’t believe that someone not involved in the football game could taunt out players like that, put their hands in our guys’ face,” he added his view to it. But whatever both sides come up with, no one can deny that the incident could have been avoided with better communication. Especially concerning Greenlaw, who has a notorious history of aggression.

Dre Greenlaw’s history of rough play

Greenlaw is a name familiar with fines and punishments. Long before he tossed around DeVonta Smith near the 15-yard line, he was disqualified from the Chargers‘ game last season after running straight into QB Justin Herbert. His total fine figure in the 2022 season reached $31,648, combining three different incidents. And the aggression has continued.

In the current season, he avoided a fine after unnecessary roughness in the Giants game in week 3. He hit Giants’ WR Darius Slayton just as the whistle was being blown, in a pretty unconvincing manner. Will fate favor him once again following the DiSandro incident? That is yet to be known. But all the video evidence suggests that the security officer was just trying to do his job, which according to head coach Nick Sirianni, “he has been doing for years.
