In the world of the NFL, even the GOATs have to call it quits someday. You can’t be on the gridiron forever -one day, you have to hang up your cleats. Last week, we said goodbye to Cowboys legend Zack Martin, and now another big name has announced his retirement.

So, here’s the big reveal. Former Eagles OT Jason Peters –the man, the myth, the absolute wall of an offensive tackle -has decided to say goodbye to football. Peters spent the last two years of his career with the Seahawks. And after an epic 21-season career, he decided it was finally time. So, what’s his story? Well, when Jason knocked on the NFL’s door, he went unnoticed, or to be precise, he was undrafted. The Bills signed the Arkansas alum as an undrafted rookie, and it was only a matter of time before he unleashed hell on the gridiron with his performance. The Bills couldn’t resist signing him to a $15 million extension.

After spending five years in Buffalo, Jason found a new home in Philly. The OT had a long run with the Eagles, spending 11 seasons with the team. He won his first and only Super Bowl with Philly in 2018.

It has always been true that great coaches shape great players. Jason became Jason “The Bodyguard” Peters under head coach, Andy Reid. “Jason Peters is the best left tackle in football. He is a powerful and athletic tackle, and I have admired his play over the last few years on film,” Reid once said about him. Reid’s mentorship took Peters to new heights. Although Reid left Philly for the Chiefs after the 2012 season, Jason had already cemented his place as a major weapon in the team’s offense.

So, now that Jason is stepping away from the gridiron, what’s next for him? Is it broadcasting, coaching, or something else entirely?

Jason Peters joins Seattle Seahawks front office

Jason’s last two years of his long career have not been very eventful. The OT remained on the Seahawks‘ practice squad for the entire 2024 season. Maybe that was the reason he thought it was time to say goodbye to football for good. So, here he is, in the front office management of Seattle. After football, Jason has already found his next gig, as he will be working with the team’s O-line. As per reports, Peters will be working as an assistant to the team’s VP of Player Affairs for the Seahawks, Mo Kelly.

The nine-time Pro Bowler has been a key weapon for the Eagles’ offense, and now he will be mentoring the Seahawks’ offensive lineup.
