In the NFL, it looks like the past controversies can never stay buried. While some people have been bringing up the 2012 bounty gate with Sean Payton and the New Orleans Saints, others like former Philadelphia Eagles star, Jason Kelce, have been discussing the 2015 Deflategate, which saw Tom Brady receive a 4-game suspension. Recently, the father of two shared that he believed the football legend should not have been punished for the scandal. Unfortunately for him, his take did not sit well with other retired footballers turned analysts.

In a recent episode of Pro Football Talk, Mike Florio and his co-host, the former quarterback, Chris Simms broke down what was said by Jason Kelce on the New Heights podcast with Travis Kelce. The broadcaster gave the former center the benefit of the doubt by claiming his wife had felt the same way. However, the 43-year-old exclaimed, “That’s what’s in the rule book.”

“You don’t get to skirt the rules. I love the Kelces. I’ve known them for a long time. And I know that that is some of the dumbest sh*t I’ve ever heard from Kelce,” stated Simms. The ex-NFL athlete doubled down on his stance and added that Brady had pulled a “BS move” and deserved the punishment that he was served.

The world still seems to be debating over Brady’s punishment and integrity for under-inflating footballs. However, it looks like the former Patriots star seems to be looking back at that time in his life with a sense of humor now.

Tom Brady ends Deflategate on his own terms

Earlier this month, Tom Brady gave in to Fox Sports’ request to make himself seem more human and relatable. The 46-year-old managed to do it with a night dedicated to the roasting of well, him. However, it would not have been possible without the help of the Buccaneers and the streaming giant, Netflix. The whole night was filled with comedic performances by Bill Belichick, Robert Kraft, Julian Edelman, Rob Gronkowski, a host of actual comedians, and even Kim Kardashian.

However, it was Brady who wound up stealing the show. When the roast was finally ending, the 46-year-old made his way to the podium and addressed the 2015 Deflategate scandal. After looking for the league’s commissioner, Robert Goodell in the crowd, he stated, “Remember Deflategate? The NFL spent 20 million dollars and found that it was ‘more probable than not’ that I was ‘generally aware’ that someone may have deflated my footballs.”

After years of keeping mum on the matter, Brady continued, “You could’ve just given me the 20 million and I would’ve just told you I f*cking did it.” The final joke ended up receiving a standing ovation with everyone in the crowd cheering on the star.

However, there is no way of saying whether the athlete was just cracking a joke or actually admitting to the scandal. The world may never know the answer behind Deflatgate. But one thing is certain, Jason Kelce is backing Brady all the way.
