Out with the old, in with the new. Gone are the days when the New England Patriots tried to rebuild under rookie head coach Jerod Mayo. Him criticizing his players publicly and squaring up with the fans didn’t really change the Patriots’ fortunes. They just kept on eating those Ls until the regular season didn’t offer them any more games. No matter how the Patriots played, it just wasn’t enough. Maybe that’s why their QB, Drake Maye, is excited about what’s in store with winners like Mike Vrabel.
In an exclusive interview with Phil Perry, Drake Maye made it clear what Mike Vrabel brings to the table. And the thing they probably need the most right now to turn things around next season, “Some of our guys, including me, probably need that—little hard coaching.” Unlike Jerod Mayo, Vrabel has walked into Foxborough—having proved himself as a coach in the NFL. Three consecutive playoff appearances, a coach of the year award, and a reputation as a culture builder. The Patriots couldn’t have asked for a better person to take over Mayo’s circus, someone who would probably get the best out of his players, starting with Maye.

Had a chance to catch up with Drake Maye to discuss a variety of Patriots topics, including the kind of coaching he’s anticipating getting from Mike Vrabel and Josh McDaniels. ⬇️https://t.co/3EJFbYvxQ1

Coming out of college as a rookie given the keys to lead the Patriots under center, Drake Maye showed maturity beyond his age. Yeah, the Patriots may have won just 4 games all season. But three of those wins came when Maye started. Even his numbers were quite impressive for a rookie who didn’t have the right roster around him. Throwing for 2,276 passing yards, 15 TDs on the air, and two on the ground. Maye did what he could while earning his first Pro Bowl in an up-and-down campaign. But keeping in mind those 10 interceptions he threw, which somewhat tarnished what could have been a sensational rookie year.
Maye could benefit from some hard coaching, “I guess the biggest thing people get away from—We don’t know everything. Especially me, coming in second year, just finished my rookie season. I don’t know everything. I want to be coached hard.” So, Vrabel’s arrival might just help Maye find that little edge he needs to sort those issues out. Like Vrabel’s former Titans player, Logan Ryan also believes that the ex-football coach of the year will surely get the best out of his players. “I think all those guys should take steps under Mike Vrabel.”

Only time will tell what will happen with the Patriots next season. For now, their OL coaching department has a problem.
Former Patriots coach exposes fake news about Mike Vrabel’s staff
Well, for a while now, former Patriots assistant Bill O’Brien has suggested that five-time Super Bowl-winning Patriots OL coach Dante Scarnecchia is back with New England. After the Patriots decided to hire Doug Marrone as their new OL coach under Mike Vrabel’s unit, O’Brien revealed, “Dante’s back involved with the program, helping out as an advisor and things like that. And that’ll help Doug. Doug will do a great job with Josh.” So, with Bill O’Brien brewing the rumors of Dante’s return to the Patriots in a consulting role, Scarnecchia was asked on The Greg Hill Show whether it was true that he was back in Foxborough to help the Patriots out.

Dante, for one, revealed something interesting. He simply squashed the rumors of his return, saying, “It’s not true.” And you know what? That’s not the only thing he revealed on the show. After his retirement in 2019, Dante was supposedly helping the Patriots in a consulting role. However, he also denied those rumors, saying, “I have not been helping out behind the scenes. I am not involved over there.” Well, this might not go down well in Bill O’Brien’s legitimacy in the media.
That’s because he was the one who started the rumors. And with Dante clearing the air, Bill O’Brien may have to give some answers of his own. But whatever is going on in New England, Mike Vrabel’s era has well and truly begun, with players already taking a liking to him.
