No moment can be bigger than the first quarter of the Super Bowl game for any footballer. And thankfully the Kansas City Chiefs have a QB like Patrick Mahomes with them. The 28-year-old’s speech energized the unit and calmed their nerves!
The Chiefs won their third Super Bowl in 5 years. This time it was overcoming the favorites, the San Francisco 49ers. And according to tight end Travis Kelce, it was Mahomes’ heartfelt pre-game talk, that made the Chiefs undefeatable.

“Going out there and being us”, said Travis Kelce in Mahomes’ speech to his brother Jason Kelce, on the siblings’ podcast ‘New Heights’. Kelce also explained that the job of inspiring the unit fell on three senior members of the squad. DT Chris Jones, himself, and the QB Mahomes.
“Play your tail off and don’t let the moment be too big for you”, said Mahomes according to Kelce in the dressing room. And this talk worked out in the Chiefs’ favor as they defeated the Niners in a thrilling contest.
However, the same passion that the Chiefs employed on the field to defeat the rival Niners. This passion did get overblown within the unit as well. With a couple of sideline interactions, that have become the talking point amidst their sensational victory.
The Chiefs have a go among themselves
This game was marred by two incidents particularly. The first one was between Kelce and head coach Andy Reid after the second quarter. Since the Chiefs were trailing 0-3, Kelce did not agree with the plays that HC Reid was orchestrated, hence he told him as such in a very volatile manner.

While the second one involved the leader Mahomes himself. As he explained to the rookie wide receiver Rashee Rice going with the field goal kick as the regulation time ended. “We can let our emotions show and then we can reel it right back in and be better for it”, said Mahomes explaining the special bond that the Chiefs share.
