Joy Taylor mocks Rodgers' ayahuasca use—Is she right about it affecting his Super Bowl dreams?

We are the team to watch this season.Aaron Rodgers said this while explaining his Egypt trip after missing the mandatory minicamps. He even recently expressed that he wants to win two Super Bowls with the New York Jets before his retirement. But is this goal realistic?

In the latest episode of SPEAK on July 23, 2024, Emmanuel Acho, Joy Taylor, LeSean McCoy, and Dave Helman, discussed the reality of the Jets this year. Taylor began by emphasizing the strength of current top teams like the Chiefs, Eagles, and 49ers, suggesting they are already ahead of the Jets in Super Bowl contention. She also mentioned other strong teams such as the Lions, Cowboys, Bengals, and Ravens, indicating that the Jets have significant competition to even make it to the AFC Championship, let alone win the Super Bowl.

Therefore, with all these teams ahead of them, Taylor expressed skepticism about the Jets’ ability to surpass these teams, especially with Aaron Rodgers, who is turning 40 and coming off an Achilles injury. She expressed, “I don’t think so (the team can win a Super Bowl). I mean he’s 40 years old, he’s going to be 41 mid-season. I don’t know if Ayahuasca ages you backwards, if so, let us know. I’m sure we’ll be doing a whole lot more out here in Beverly Hills…..He is coming off of an Achilles injury….I’m confused though like this achilles injury is still a very serious injury because we acting like it’s not, it is very serious.

The analyst further questioned if Rodgers can perform at a high level consistently, especially given his recent performance before his injury. Out of 542 attempts, the QB completed only 350. Not only this, he did not even complete more than 300 yards in even a single game. Taylor pointed out that even if the Jets manage to get through the tough AFC competition, they would still have to beat a top NFC team in the Super Bowl, making their path to victory extremely challenging.

In addition to her statements, the other three analysts also expressed skepticism about the Jets winning a Super Bowl, let alone two. This doubt is also because of the Jets’ long-time Super Bowl drought of 55 years. Additionally, they had their last playoff appearance in 2010. So, the question is whether Rodgers can lead the Gang Green into the playoffs. Besides that, will he even clear the first step of winning the division?

Can Aaron Rodgers and the Jets win Super Bowl LIX?

Super Bowl LIX is scheduled to be played on February 9, 2025, at Caesars Superdome. All 32 teams are waiting for a chance this time, including the Chiefs who are eager to achieve a 3-peat. Even Aaron Rodgers, who is coming off his Achilles injury, believes that this is his team’s time. While talking about his retirement, in a recent interview, A-Rod said, “I don’t know. I’m not sure. This one for sure… I wanted to do two good ones to give us a chance to retire a Jet. You know, win two Super Bowls. Of course [I’d love to retire like that].

Although he has full faith in winning two Lombardi trophies before hanging his cleats, let’s not forget he is surrounded by three major factors. One being his age, two his Achilles return, and three the team’s offensive unit. However, the Jets have made some big moves this offseason. They bolstered Aaron Rodgers’ offensive line and brought in Mike Williams to play alongside Garrett Wilson. With Breece Hall stepping up as a standout running back, Rodgers has all the tools he needs to take the Jets to the playoffs and possibly even further.

Additionally, if looked on the flip side, Rodgers, now 40, doesn’t have many seasons left in him. Surprisingly, last year’s Achilles injury might have been a blessing in disguise, giving his body some much-needed rest. ESPN’s Mike Clay is optimistic, predicting that the Jets could win Super Bowl LIX. He points to their top-tier defense, improved offense, a favorable AFC East landscape, and, of course, Rodgers himself as reasons for hope.

The Jets haven’t reached the Super Bowl since Joe Namath led them to an unforgettable victory in Super Bowl III. Their last double-digit win season was in 2015, and they haven’t been to the playoffs since Rex Ryan’s tenure in 2010. But the NFL is known for its rapid turnarounds. So, Clay expressed, “This roster is built to compete for a title right now. If the Jets stay relatively healthy and Rodgers is something close to his old self, you can plan on hearing “J-E-T-S, JETS, JETS, JETS” chants echoing through New Orleans in February.”

This season could be crucial in determining Rodgers’ future. If he can lead the Jets to a Super Bowl victory, it would be the perfect end to his storied career. But if they fall short, he might just come back for one more shot at that elusive second ring.
