Can Aaron Rodgers single-handedly save the Jets from their self-inflicted chaos?

The Jets are soldering on. But let’s be real—are they fighting a winnable uphill battle? Sitting at 2-6, that’s a pretty steep task. And in the meantime, Robert Saleh’s been shown the door, the OC’s been demoted, and Aaron Rodgers looks like he’s scratching his head over this offense. And sure, we got that A-Rod and Davante Adams reunion, but, well, that’s about as good as it’s been in New York. Yet, according to one NFL analyst, there’s an even bigger storm on the horizon.

In  Scoop City Podcast, The Athletic’s Zack Rosenblatt dropped a news Gang Green would love to ignore. “There’s the other layer of, if Donald Trump wins the election, there’s a good chance Woody [Johnson] follows him and then he’s gone for four years and his brother takes over,” he said.

Zack further emphasized on the team’s preseason plan, which was, “Winning!” But that was up until recently when they signed Davante. Signing the experienced receiver was more of grasping at straws and not about winning anymore. As Zack said: “When they traded for Davante, it wasn’t even about winning the Super Bowl anymore, it was about playing themselves out of the dumps and getting to the playoffs.” Sounds harsh? But that’s the bitterness of the truth.

So much to take in, right? We have got you. See, Zack might not be stretching with anything. I mean, take the point where he talked about the impact of Trump’s election. That’s as true of a statement as it comes. Remember the last time when Woody went to follow Trump? The Jets’ owner served as the US Ambassador to the UK back then and could once again be MIA (with the way he has been campaigning), leaving brother Chris Johnson in charge.

You do you. That’s fine with the fans, as well. But what isn’t is the rash decisions, costing the team literally victories! The Athletic’s writer summed it up perfectly: “This is an owner [Woody] who is very upset right now. And I don’t think anybody is gonna have sympathy for him because he’s made some rash decisions recently.”

Aaron Rodgers must keep doing what he’s doing

One of the best statements to sum up impulsive, rash, decisions from Woody lately would be this: Saleh did not lose the Jets. He lost the owner. And that’s it. There’s no two ways about it. Since the firing, they have lost 3 games in a row. Has it gotten any better? Clearly not. In fact, it has been worse, with no signs of getting better. That could be the Gang Green’s Halloween theme for this year. But worry not, the treat’s there for all to see. That is…drum rolls…Aaron Rodgers performing like a future HOFer under the center.

Have an interesting take?

We are not kidding. It’s understandable to be shocked to see an A-Rod compliment nowadays. Especially after all the rumors went ablaze of a rift between him and Saleh. But credit where it’s due. Since that Titans clash (in week 2) man has shifted into the max gear (maybe, one less but you get the sentiment). He’s been consistent, throwing over 200 yards in each game. And in the last game against the Patriots? Rodgers went for 233 yards, two touchdowns, no interceptions. 17-for-28.

Those are rock-solid numbers on a team that feels more pieced together than a patchy O-line. The guy’s carrying them, no question. Somebody should check his shoulders. With age, weakness in the bones sneak in. At 40, how much more can fans expect outta him? You cannot expect him to hit prime AR12 used to hi. And yet he’s producing numbers that have been saving some pride for the Gang.

But man, Rodgers can’t do it all. Take Greg Zuerlein, the kicker who missed both an early extra point and a crucial fourth-quarter field goal against the Pats. Those four points? Could’ve swung the whole game. But nope—Gang Green lost by three. And the defense? There’s hardly been a D this season. Once touted as a top-tier unit, they’ve been giving up third-down conversions and penalties like they’re freebies.

So, the question comes in: what else can Aaron Rodgers do to carry the Gang to the playoffs? He most certainly can NOT do it all. So, let’s just start with letting him do his thing, while the focus turns to the others in the roster. Get them up to pace with Rodgers. How about that?
