There is no question about the Miami Dolphins talented wide receiver Tyreek Hill‘s speed. He gets to places faster than the defender covering him. Being arguably the most agile and fastest in the league, there is no better judge of agility than Hill. Hence, he stated his stance on a new agility comparison of two young receivers on the internet.

An official Twitter account of NFL Rookie Watch compared the footwork of Colorado’s Travis Hunter and the newly signed Chargers’ Ladd McConkey. However, the comparison probably didn’t sit well with Tyreek Hill, so he re-shared the post with his thoughts on X on 21 June 2024. The Cheetah wrote, “No way y’all just did that (with two laughing emojis), they both nice.

The video first shows Hunter performing fast cone drills in his practice session, then transitions to McConkey’s on-field practice session, where he executes the same drill under his coach’s guidance before catching the ball. The post wrote a caption, saying, “The difference between Travis Hunter and Ladd McConkey’s footwork is INSANE. That white boy can MOVE” with a shocking emoji.

Both the young players are considered as agile and future stars of the NFL. About a couple of days ago, Hunter showed off his running talents during a speed training regimen, and the video went viral. McConkey, on the other hand, once at his pro day, showed off his agility in the three-cone (6.72 — third fastest for a receiver at that time). Additionally, the 22-year-old has already made his NFL entry in this year’s draft, whereas the 21-year-old, Hunter, might be eyeing to enter the league next year. But before that, they are drawn to this mandatory comparison by the fans and NFL Rookie Watch account.

Well, that’s true–Hunter and McConkey both show similar agility when it comes to ladder or cone drills. However, there’s a slight difference in speed numbers between them.

A look at their speed and agility!

Tyreek Hill, Travis Hunter or Ladd McConkey–Who is best in terms of speed? Well, many would say Hill as an obvious answer. And that’s true! The eight-time Pro Bowler has recorded a 4.29-second 40-yard dash with a speed of 19.07 mph. But the newcomers, Hunter and McConkey are also not so far behind him. Ladd McConkey, who can run the 40-yard dash in 4.39-seconds, brings elite route running skills to a wide receiver group that needs depth in the Chargers. Additionally, his 4.39-seconds time ranks him in the 86th percentile among wide receivers.

In comparison, Hunter has managed 4.40 unofficially so far while running a 40-yard dash. So, there is just a second difference between the two young receivers, while Hill still ranks on top. However, there is one person who showed his insane speed and is much more agile than Hill as well, and that’s Hunter’s HC, Deion Sanders. In 1989, at the Marriott Marquis in New York City, Sanders performed his show-stopping act by setting the NFL combine record for the fastest 40-yard dash, running it in 4.27 seconds. Woah, that’s extremely fast!

And now, Sanders wants that agility in his players, especially one of the favorites – Travis Hunter, as he wishes to join the league next year.
