Tyreek Hill never shies away from voicing his opinions! The Miami Dolphins star has more often than not stood out for sharing a stance that many might find curious if not controversial. Recently as well, Cheetah shared a take many may be surprised to learn, given his NFL association. Despite cementing his reputation as one of the best WRs in one of the biggest leagues in the world, Tyreek Hill seems to not rank the NFL athleticism at the top of his list.

In a post shared by Robert Griffin III, the Retired QB publicly asked a much-debated question, “Who are the better athletes, football players or basketball players?” With the sports unsurprisingly two of the most physical ones in the country, it seemed to pose a fair comparison. But Tyreek Hill saw beyond the two options to share his thoughts on who are the better athletes in North America.

Tyreek Hill only needed one word to respond to RGIII, as the WR posted, “Lacrosse.” While Cheetah’s comment in support of Lacrosse adds strength and confidence to the narrative of the fastest-growing sport in the US, it is a surprise to hear such a response from a player belonging to one of the most strength-demanding and physical sports in the world. However, it is hard to tell whether the WR was candid or humorous about it.

Interesting Fact: Two-time Super Bowl champion wide receiver Chris Hogan made his debut in the Premier Lacrosse League in 2021. Hogan spent four years with the Buffalo Bills before joining the Patriots for three years. He also played three years of lacrosse at Penn State.

Hill himself is an excellent athlete known largely for his speed and agility. The receiver in his eight years in the league has covered a staggering 10,139 yards, making 76 TDs. The 8-time Pro Bowler after shifting from Chiefs to Miami had consecutive successful seasons of over 1700 yardage, proving the essence of his running ability and speed.

The WR also had been a prominent track and field star in his High School, grabbing the title of the “Athlete of the Year” in 2012. Thus, for the sport of Lacrosse to receive a mention from Hill regarding athleticism, if in seriousness, seems a response of great honor. But this is also not the first time Hill has shared a debatable take.

During an appearance on the Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast, Hill was asked how would he fare if he had to face Deion Sanders in his prime. Hill boldly claimed, “I’m putting 175 on Deion, easy, 175, two touchdowns.  I’m not saying I’m gonna put the whole [175 yards] up by going deep or running an actual route: I’m catching screens, I’m doing whatever the game needs me to do to get yardage on Deion.”

Coming back to lacrosse, the sport recently also witnessed Bill Belichick in its corner, as the legendary Head Coach attended training practice for the Northwestern Women’s team. Before attending the NFL Draft as an Analyst on Pat McAfee Show, Belichick would join the pitch for his 2nd love. He also played the game in high school and college. With the sport gaining momentum and backing, it isn’t far-fetched to predict its rise to the top of America’s sporting charts.

Lacrosse has become America’s fastest-growing sport!

Despite the formalization of the sport over 150 years ago, Lacrosse has picked up momentum quite consistently only in recent memory. According to the official Website of Lacrosse’s association, an estimated 2.9 Million people have joined the sport over the last few years. Beyond the growth spurt visible in the NCAA, the appearance of professional lacrosse leagues for men and women also accounts for and verifies the growth the sport has witnessed.

Being an approachable sport is one of the key reasons why it is attracting the masses as there is not a specific build that is required, unlike in other sports. Posing a high-scoring match and ease of accessibility make it fun and accepting for those interested in picking up the sport.

Unlike earlier popular belief, all forums dedicated to Lacrosse now seem to follow a consensus of how skills and athleticism are the top priority in the game, and not the specific demands of height and weight. The sport has in its favor the low-cost equipment and playing fields, catering to its growth, per the Professional Box Lacrosse Association.

Another reason given for the growth of the sport, per the official website, is the commonly found local leagues and club teams. This provides players a higher chance of applying for scholarships, thus continuing long term with the sport.

While the general wave seems to be in support of the growth of Lacrosse, Tyreek Hill’s latest comment is set to bring more attention to the fairly spreading game.
