Remember the -4 degrees Fahrenheit game between the Miami Dolphins and the Kansas City Chiefs? Yes, we are talking about that wildcard game, when wind gusts were up to 27 mph, and Arrowhead experienced a wind chill of minus-27 degrees. That was the fourth-coldest game in the NFL history. And it’s definitely not forgettable for the players, especially Tua Tagovailoa and his team.
As we all know, Miami is a tropical monsoon climate zone, and hence, it rarely faces freezing cold. Hence, the players, who came to KC last year, felt the chill. That’s the reason why Tua Tagovailoa has changed his plan as they are heading towards another cold game against Jordan Love’s Packers.
During a recent press conference, Tua Tagovailoa was asked if he would use a glove on his throwing hand, he confirmed, “Yeah, probably no glove this time. I think for a lot of our guys that were able to play in the game last year against Kansas City, kind of gave you a different perspective of what cold really was.” Obviously, that cold was unbeatable and difficult for Miami players.

Besides that, reflecting on playing in cold conditions, quarterback Tua Tagovailoa highlighted mindset as the key factor. Coming from Miami’s warm climate, where temperatures rarely drop, he emphasized that overcoming the cold isn’t about playing adjustments but about mental toughness. Hence, for him, it’s all about focus and preparation, regardless of the conditions.
Tua Tagovailoa’s Dolphins are traveling to Lambeau Field in Green Bay to face Jordan Love’s Packers on Thanksgiving, on Thursday, November 28 at 8:20 p.m. ET.
How will the weather be for Tua Tagovailoa’s team in Wisconsin?
No doubt that Tua Tagovailoa and his Dolphins are going to play a cold game on Thanksgiving. But the question is: How cold will it be on that day? Well, Thanksgiving night in Green Bay is shaping up to be brutal. Temperatures are expected to drop to 20 degrees, with a biting real feel of just 6.

However, snow might stay away, but icy winds at 9 mph won’t make it any easier for the teams. Especially for the Dolphins, this could spell trouble, because their history in cold weather is not great. They’re 3-7 all-time when it’s 23 degrees or colder and have only managed one win in such conditions since 1992. Last year, against the Chiefs, they again lost the game. However, the one win came against the Kansas City Chiefs only in 2008 (38-31), when the temperature was about just 10 degrees.
So, can Dolphins shake off their cold-weather curse this time, or will the frigid air freeze their momentum? Time will tell!
