It was week 2. Tua Tagovailoa suffered an injury. Everyone feared one thing! Fans had their fingers crossed. But it turned out to be a concussion injury. The season is in its 6th week. The quarterback is still out. And we got an update about his recovery.
The Phins Terron Armstead too suffered a concussion injury in the week 4 game against the Tennessee Titans. He talked about the extensive process for concussion recovery on the Gojo and Golic Podcast and said, “For the concussion, I suffered in Seattle and it has been 10 seasons since I had my last concussion injury, the protocols were 20 times more than I had to do to return to play.” It has a wider implication for Tua Tagovailoa, who is eyeing a return by week 9.
The DT also gave an update about the quarterback, “He has been doing well. He’s the leader of the team, still. He’s excited to get back on the field with us.” However, there are problems looming in the team post Tua’s unfortunate hiatus.

The offense isn’t working like it did last season. After 5 weeks, the Miami Dolphins are ranked 21st in yards (last season, they topped the league). With 12.3 average points, they are at the bottom in that aspect. Week 6 is bye week. They are sitting at a 2-3 win-loss record. Mike McDaniel has to sort out the challenges before Tua Tagovailoa’s return.
The quarterback is also doing everything he can do. But the recovery isn’t easy. It’s his 3rd concussion injury in 2 seasons.

In the 2023 off-season, the quarterback made a unique plan to prevent concussion injuries. Martial Arts! He practiced Jiu Jitsu and Judo to learn how to fall. During the training, he often recreated scenarios from the gridiron which included falling. It worked well last season.
This season, the story has started on a negative. Yet the lessons still remain with him. Tua Tagovailoa is using those tricks to fasten his recovery. The quarterback is also meeting with doctors and physiotherapists to get back in game form. Unfortunately, the haters are targeting his family using his injury.
