In May 2023, a few of the Dolphins’ players were placed for consideration upon contract extension. Among them was quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. Having a limited budget cap, the side chose to invest in the quarterback, who secured $23.2 million for the 2024 NFL season. The decision was understandable.

On the other side, the franchise rejected both Jackson, who was the 18th pick of the 2020 draft, and Noah Igbinoghene, the 30th pick the same year. Both of the players were declined their 5-year extension wishes, but a lot of water has flown since. The team is the joint top seed in the AFC and is looking to better their 2022 season.
