Can the Dolphins' offense survive without Mostert and Achane against the Bills' fierce defense?

Dolphins Nation, hold onto your fins! Thursday Night Football’s Bills matchup just leveled up. Coach Mike McDaniel just dropped some jaw-dropping news about running back Raheem Mostert. Spoiler alert: Miami’s backfield is in a tailspin.

Miami Dolphins reporter Marcel Louis-Jacques shared the bombshell on X: “Dolphins RB Raheem Mostert (chest) is OUT for Thursday’s game vs the Bills, per Mike McDaniel.” With Mostert out, the Phins’ offensive playbook might get a serious remix, as he’s been a game-changer in their run game.

And just when you thought stuff couldn’t get wilder, ESPN’s very own Adam Schefter dropped the IG mic with: “Dolphins RB Raheem Mostert is out Thursday night vs. the Bills due to a chest injury, per Mike McDaniel. Dolphins RB De’Von Achane will be a game-time decision.” Rookie RB De’Von Achane’s listed as a game-time decision. His availability’s up in the air, adding a layer of uncertainty to Miami’s backfield plans.

So, what’s the dealio? Purdue standout RB Mostert’s now sidelined with a chest injury. Not the best news for the Phins, especially with their rapid Week 1 turnaround. Rookie dynamo De’Von Achane’s also on shaky ground thanks to an ankle issue. In Week 1 against the Jaguars, Jeff Wilson Jr. clocked 26 yards on five carries. Achane, though? He didn’t light up the ground game (24 yards on six carries), but he dazzled as a pass-catching dynamo with seven grabs for 76 yards. With Mostert and Achane combining for over 1,800 rushing yards and 26 TDs last season, their absence could throw Miami’s game plan into chaos.

Pro Football Network says Achane’s ankle could be a mild high sprain. Dr. Deepak Chona reckons the 22-year-old might still play, but with this quick turnaround, he’s a risky bet. As the Dolphins prep for this high-stakes AFC East brawl, stay glued for the latest injury updates. If Achane and Mostert are MIA, who’s taking the lead in Miami’s backfield?

Who’s the next man up?

With Raheem Mostert out with a chest injury and De’Von Achane’s status still up in the air, the Dolphins’ running game’s in serious need of a hero.

Can the Dolphins' offense survive without Mostert and Achane against the Bills' fierce defense?

Have an interesting take?

Here’s the scoop: At halftime of Week 1, Tua Tagovailoa fired up the locker room with a pep talk that got everyone splitting up. HC Mike McDaniel was pumped, saying it was “cool to have Tua beat me to the punch of something that if he wouldn’t have said, I probably would have.” Now, Miami needs more than motivation—they need action.

Entered Jaylen Wright, the fourth-round rookie who’s been on standby. Wright didn’t get a look in Week 1 due to a “coach’s decision” (aka McDaniel had other plans). But if Achane and Mostert are out, Wright could finally get his shot. McDaniel loves mixing things up, noting that “just to get everybody involved is important for me,” and suggesting it doesn’t take long to give a guy a couple carries here and there (Coachspeak Index).

So, if Achane and Mostert can’t suit up, expect to see Wright and veteran Jeff Wilson Jr. getting their chance to light up the field. McDaniel’s game plan might shift to make the most of whatever backs are available.

Keep an eye on Jaylen Wright and Wilson Jr. as they step up to fill the gap and spark Miami’s offense. Buckle up, because this is about to get interesting!
