This offseason is just getting wilder. The free agency window opened on March 10, and the franchises wasted no time making moves. The Miami Dolphins, too, hit the ground running, signing two players and adding more to their O-line depth. They are building a nest around QB Tua Tagovailoa. That’s quite interesting. The Dolphins fans are not exactly happy with one of the picks, but it is what it is now. So, who are the new players flying straight to South Beach?

After the Steelers signed DK Metcalf, they were looking strong. But now, the team is losing its players like nothing. First, they lost Justin Fields to the Jets, and now their football guard has signed with the Dolphins. Miami, straight up addressing their initial need, signed OL James Daniels to the squad. The 27-year-old was one of the top-ranked guards in free agency this offseason. So, as soon as the league gave franchises access to pick players, the Dolphins shot their shot. As per reports, the team has signed James to a 3-year deal worth $24M. He has been donning the Steelers jersey for the past three seasons, but now he will be with the Dolphins.

Daniels’ parting of ways might not bother the Steelers. They would have signed him earlier if they wanted to. The reason the team could care less is James’ injuries, the 27-year-old could only play in four games last season after tearing his Achilles tendon. So, didn’t the Dolphins consider his injury history before making a deal? Well, the team offered a deal only after Daniels’ medicals cleared. Miami Herald reporter Barry Jackson reports that the Iowa alum will be doing football drills come May or June.

James has played seven seasons so far, starting his journey with the Bears in 2018. The 27-year-old has played 90 games in his seven-year career, starting in 84 games combined for both the Bears and Steelers. And who is the second player heading to South Beach? Well, coming straight from Denver, the backup to Bo Nix, Miami has brought on board Zach Wilson.

Zach Wilson as Tua Tagovailoa’s backup

Yes, it’s the signing of Zach Wilson that has made the Dolphins fandom quite upset. The BYU alum was a top QB prospect in the 2021 draft, and Woody Johnson‘s team had no second thoughts about picking him as the second overall in the draft. Wilson had two good years to prove to the team that he could ball, but after he could not, the Jets got Aaron Rodgers to end their misery.

But then Zach got another shot after Rodgers suffered an injury in Week 1 that put him on the sidelines for the rest of the season. Well, even then, Wilson could not do much to secure his place on the team. Last year, the Broncos acquired the BYU alum in a trade with Woody Johnson’s team. Wilson never got to step on the gridiron during his time with the team.

What’s your perspective on:

Will Zach Wilson's arrival ignite a QB controversy in Miami, or is Tua's spot secure?

The 25-year-old was third on the Broncos’ QB depth chart, with Bo Nix as the starting QB. Jarrett Stidham served as the first backup to Nix, and then there was Wilson. So, Zach saw no action in the latest season. But now that he has signed with the Dolphins as a backup to Tua Tagovailoa, he might see some this season. As per Adam Schefter, Miami has signed the Broncos’ backup QB to a one-year, $6 million deal.

Now, when you sign a player who hasn’t even set foot on the field for an entire season, naturally, it would raise some eyebrows. But being a QB in the NFL is no child’s play. Maybe cut him some slack, eh?
