One GOAT is already sitting in the Fox booth, waiting to call the Super Bowl for the first time as a commenter. Then, there is another GOAT from the soccer world, Lionel Messi, who has just arrived in New Orleans to watch the Super Bowl LIX. So, with two GOATs from their respective sports watching, Patrick Mahomes, pressure to deliver has just doubled. As he chases the 3-peat to match Tom Brady’s GOAT status, this might just be the perfect opportunity for him to cement himself in their category.
Like there wasn’t even any concrete news of Messi making the Super Bowl on time. Because he just had a preseason game for Inter Miami in Honduras on Saturday Night. But it seems that missing the Super Bowl wasn’t something in the cards for Messi, no matter where he was. Even Mahomes himself said, “Yes,” when asked about the rumors of Messi attending the Super Bowl a few days back. And now those rumors have come true as soccer god has blessed the football world with his arrival in the Super Bowl.

And you know he is not alone in witnessing the biggest spectacle American Sports has to offer? He has even brought his kids to the game. Two of them were captured rocking Mahomes’ No.15 Chiefs jersey, while his oldest, Thiago, was wearing Eagles gear as they entered the Caesars Superdome. Well, it seems Mahomes isn’t only famous in the football world. His aura has also made its way to soccer royalty’s family, considering their outpouring support for the Chiefs’ QB. Now, Messi isn’t the only player representing the soccer world at the Super Bowl LIX.
Even Atletico Madrid players Antoine Griezmann and Koke traveled all the way from Spain to witness the Super Bowl. Griezmann, before the game, also told Fox, whom he is cheering for tonight, “I see the Chiefs as favorites. I am a big fan.” So, Messi’s family isn’t the only one who will be cheering on the Chiefs. Mahomes has more reinforcements from the soccer realm, which shows he is truly the face of the NFL right now. Pulling not only football fans but also stars from other sports out there. Mahomes magic indeed!
However, it’s not like Mahomes isn’t a soccer fan himself. Just a few days back, he spoke openly about his admiration for 8-time Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi.

Patrick Mahomes spills his true feelings about Lionel Messi
With Messi playing in the MLS and not watching Patrick Mahomes, was it even possible? Probably, considering he is indeed there to watch the game live. But even before the game started, there were already talks of Messi potentially coming down to New Orleans to attend the Super Bowl 57 rematch.
And that led to Mahomes speaking candidly about his true thoughts of being watched by the soccer GOAT, “Messi is the GOAT of his profession. To have someone like that at the game would be awesome. I get to showcase who I can and what talent that I have.” With 3 Super Bowl titles already in his bag and a 4th soon, everyone is already pretty aware of the talents Mahomes possesses. But proving it live to a GOAT is a different feeling, after all.

Because Mahomes himself also remembers watching Messi play closely, so he knows what magic the Inter Miami forward possesses. “So I got to watch him when he played in Kansas City. I think it was last year. And he had two goals in that game, and you see the greatness that he displays every single day. And so he’s someone else that I can look up to and try to get to his level someday,” Mahomes added. Such a humble thought of someone who already terrorizes opponents with his plays week in and week out.
But yeah, sure, he wants to improve further and maybe a 3-peat today can help him cement his GOAT status once and for all.
