And a key cog in it has been Jalen Carter. The Defensive Tackle (DT) has chalked up 51 tackles so far (28 solo) and 6.5 sacks en route to the Eagles, setting up a Super Bowl finale with the Chiefs. At just 23 years old, Carter has played his part in making the Eagles’ defense hard to go through.

But it’s not a coincidence he has shouldered the responsibility so well. Jalen Carter has been doing grown-up stuff since he was a child. Being a DT is just an extension of it, one can say. So when a shooting happened in October 2023 in his hometown, Apopka, Carter immediately chimed in with a $5,000 check to help those affected. He has also organized youth football camps and helped his mother in a back-to-school initiative to donate backpacks, school supplies, and food to people who couldn’t afford them.

In touch with his philanthropic nature, Jalen probably doesn’t find time for a relationship. He is too focused on making the world a better place, something that he has learned from his mother.

Who are Jalen Carter’s parents?

Jana Carter and Tonique Brown brought Jalen into this world on April 4, 2001. Carter’s father, Jana, used to play football for Florida State University. Seems like Jalen got his father’s football genes.

But being raised by a single mother, Jalen credits his mother for who he is today, “Everything you have seen me do so far, my mom has been the main objective for it. She supports me every day, talks to me every day; she is doing what a good mother should do.”

Jalen’s nature to look out for his fellow people was influenced by his mother, Tonique: “Growing up, my mom had a daycare, so every day after school, I’d come to the daycare, and I was one of the workers. Even though I was her son, I was one of the workers. So, just working with kids ever since I was a little kid, I just wanted to give back.”

His mother has provided him with support, protection, and so much love that he never has had to feel the absence of his dad. At the same time, she didn’t forget to teach him to spread love to others whenever possible. And if the Eagles clinch the Super Bowl LIX, Jalen will dedicate this win to her because he knows she played a huge part in helping him achieve it.
