Since stepping foot into the league, Marshawn Lynch was in awe of his teammate, DK Metcalf, in his first year. After they won the 2019 wildcard playoff game against the Eagles, he even praised the rookie, by calling a big dude who can move. That’s true. Metcalf is 6 feet 4 inches tall, and weighs 229 pounds – a bona fide battering ram! Lynch only measured 5 feet 11 inches and 215 pounds. So, a monster had arrived in the league to make his mark. That game was unusual for one more thing.
Lynch had just returned as the savior of the franchise. Fans threw Skittles on the field when he scored the touchdown against the Birds. DK Metcalf was blown away! He had never seen such support for a player in his life. But Lynch has always been peculiar. He became a Super Bowl winner for the Hawks. But he revealed the hilarious part of the story.
Once they boarded the flight to go back home, Lynch approached the rookie and asked for dollar bills. DK Metcalf revealed on the March 20 episode of Get Got Pod, “He walk up to me, (and) said, hey nephew, let me hold a dollar or two. So I give him, we ain’t had no dollar or until we had fives. Five was the lowest bill. So I gave my five.”

The rookie thought he helped his senior player with something. But it was a joke.
He found it himself a few minutes later when he decided to take a walk around the plane. He saw the Beast Mode athlete going up to the other players. Curious, DK Metcalf followed him to other players and saw him taking five-dollar bills from everyone on the plane.
He added, “I take a lap around the plane. He went up to everybody, asking for a dollar. So imagine, you got 90 folks on the (plane) nobody exempt yeah first class, yeah run that he walks immediately to Clowny behind me. Clowny got the same thing.” So it was fair treatment to play the joke on the entire team.
Not only as teammates but even after Lynch hung his boots after the 2019 season, they met again in 2024. Lynch’s father, Terrence Metcalf, was also a college Hall of Famer finalist for being a former Ole Miss offensive lineman. This off-season, though, the attention is on the former Hawks WR. He recently switched his allegiances.
DK Metcalf reveals his stance on leaving the Seahawks
That’s the breaking news for the Hawks. But the receiver was never disappointed. The 2nd round pick (64th overall) pick of the 2019 draft had 6 seasons with more than 900+ receiving yards (3 were 1000+). So, the grit was there. But the Seahawks wanted to move in a new direction.

While talking about his stance on leaving the franchise, DK Metcalf added, “I had a chance to play with some great players from Russell (Wilson) to Bobby Wagner to Marshawn (Lynch). (I) got a chance to meet some greats like Kam Chancellor, Richard Sherman. But you know it’s just time for me to move on. I think it’s the grass is greener on the other side.”
It’s an emotional ride!
After he arrived at the franchise, almost all the Hawks stars had already left or were about to leave. Russell Wilson left the franchise after a decade in 2022 as a Super Bowl winner. The legendary HC Pete Carroll also left them after 2023 and moved on with the Raiders this year. So, there was no one from the memories left in the building.

The Steelers gave him a 5-year $150 million, with $40 million guaranteed. So, he also has a significant chance of qualifying for the playoffs. He wants the ultimate glory. A Super Bowl! Something even the Black and Gold haven’t won for more than a decade.
