Patrick Mahomes' mom picks daughter Mia and grandkids over him—What does this say about family values?

Randi Mahomes is orchestrating a different kind of play where touchdowns and tackles dominate headlines – one that puts family center field. The matriarch of the Mahomes clan today made an interesting or rather cute choice! She’s scoring major points in the game of life.

Randi took to Instagram, sharing a touching moment. Using the platform’s “Add Yours” feature, she posted photos of her grandkids Sterling and Bronze, along with her daughter Mia. The caption? “somebody who effortlessly makes you happy.” It’s a simple phrase that speaks volumes, louder than any stadium roar.

While her son Patrick Mahomes is busy eyeing a historic three-peat with the Kansas City Chiefs, Randi seems content finding joy in life’s quieter victories. It’s not that she’s benched her support for Patrick and Jackson – far from it. But her recent social media activity suggests she prioritizes family bonds over fame.

This shift comes at a pivotal time for the Mahomes family. Patrick and Brittany recently announced they’re expecting their third child, due around January 2025. As Randi excitedly tweeted, “3 grandbaby is on the way and a 3-peat.. why not!! God is great!! So very BLESSED!!” Talk about high expectations!

Meanwhile, Jackson has been navigating rougher terrain. Randi stood firmly by his side during recent legal troubles, proving that a mother’s love knows no boundaries – or end zones. As she shared on “The Mom Game” podcast, “Jackson’s been through the wringer, unfortunately. But the truth finally came out.”

A mother’s balancing act

Being the mom of an NFL superstar isn’t all glitz and glamour. It’s more like being a quarterback – constantly reading the field, making split-second decisions, and hoping you don’t get sacked by public opinion.

Randi opened up about this challenge on “The Mom Game” podcast, admitting, “It’s super difficult. I can say we’re blessed, and Patrick’s living out his dream… but the attacks from different directions have been super overwhelming as a mother, as a friend of my kids, and just as a human.”

She even confessed to a bit of lineup envy, saying, “I look at some of my friends either on social media or in different things, and I’m jealous that they have this normal life. Their kids are the same age as Patrick and Jackson, and they have this normal situation, and we don’t.”

But like any great coach, Randi has adapted her game plan. She’s found joy in her relationship with daughter Mia, who prefers to stay out of the limelight. Mia’s carving out her own identity, excelling in volleyball and basketball, far from the NFL’s bright lights. Mia used to downplay her connection to the Mahomes family, telling classmates she barely knows them – despite having pictures of Patrick, Brittany, and Jackson in her school locker.

Randi jokingly admitted on the Kent Hance podcast back in 2021, “I tell them if she would have been the first born she would have been the last born because, girls, she’s going to give me a run for my money.” Mia brings a different kind of excitement to Randi’s life – one that doesn’t require a scoreboard.

The challenges of their new life haven’t been easy for Randi. She candidly shared, “As much as I say that we’re blessed and Patrick’s living his dream, it has been the hardest seven years of my adult life. It’s been really hard to juggle … I’ve cried a lot. I’ve struggled with it.” Yet, she remains steadfast in her love for motherhood, stating, “Being a mother is my favorite thing sometimes, and sometimes it’s hard, but it Is my favorite thing, and I always say, ‘Where would I be without it?'”

Randi’s ability to juggle her roles as a public figure and private nurturer is nothing short of a touchdown dance. Whether she’s cheering from the stands at Arrowhead Stadium or enjoying quiet scooter rides with Mia (as seen in her recent Instagram stories), Randi Mahomes proves that in the game of life, family always comes first.
