In the 2024 NFL Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs chose wide receiver Xavier Worthy as their 28th pick. There was only one issue. His weight! The rookie weighed 165 pounds in the NFL combine and increased it to 169 in May. He ideally wants to bulk up to the 170-175 pound range for the season. Nothing to worry! The HC Andy Reid is convinced and announced his decision. Worthy will play in the season opener against the Baltimore Ravens. And the WR is ready.

Sports Anchor Aaron Ladd interviewed the rookie before his debut. Putting first things first, the receiver said that every football player dreams of playing in the biggest football league. He further explained his feelings, claiming that everyone speaks about it, but it is a distinct thing to do. Then, he talked about his assessment of Purple Pain’s defense.

The WR mentioned that Ravens’ group relies on physical force, adding, “They run a lot of different schemes. They’re really good at what they do, physical group, and it starts with their linebackers. I feel like the linebackers are the head of their defense, and we just got to play our game.” Looks like Reid and the MVP quarterback Patrick Mahomes have explained the details of the defense.

While the Ravens group will try to gain physical advantage, Xavier Worthy will use his speed. Expect some electrifying plays! In his 2023 college season, the receiver had 75 receptions for 1,014 yards. Not a child’s play! So we can say he knows how to evade the bulky guys without getting intercepted. And with insights from arguably the best in the league (Reid and Mahomes), the transition would be smooth.

While the contest will be exciting, he has enough people in his department to guide him. Winning back to back Super Bowls is not a fluke.

Xavier Worthy will get ample support from Chiefs’ veteran wide receivers

The Chiefs have kept 7 WRs in their roster. Apart from Worthy and Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown, the other 5 wideouts are not only battle hardened, all of them are Super Bowl winners. Puzzled, why we say so? Here’s the explanation.

While Skyy Moore has won Super LVII and LVIII, Mecole Hardman also played with him in those 2 seasons. He (Hardman) has an additional Lombardi Trophy (LIV). The 3rd one, Justin Watson, is exceptional. He has won a Super Bowl with 2 teams, Buccaneers (LV) and back-to-back trophies with Chiefs. Mind-boggling! The remaining two WRs are equally talented.

Rashee Rice won Super LVIII in his rookie year itself. But since he had a bad preseason (multi-vehicle collision), the NFL might suspend him. Chiefs don’t want to lag and have prepared it for it beforehand. They brought Juju Smith-Schuster from Pats, who won Super LVII with Chiefs. But there’s a twist regarding Xavier Worthy.

He weighs the least among all the receivers of Chiefs (others are above 180). Other teams will also have caught a whiff of this. However, with such veterans helping him, it will be a nail-biting contest. Can he leverage his weight with his speed?
