With less than 24 hours before the 9:30 AM (ET) kickoff, fans of both teams are teeming with excitement and fervor. This is Mahomes’ second game on international soil after they played in Mexico last year. But it’s Mahomes’ first game in a European country. For the Tua and Co, this is their first international match. The Kansas City Chiefs and the Miami Dolphins will face off at Deutsche Bank Park in Frankfurt, Germany.
Looking at the crowds on the ground and the passion with which they’re prepping for the game, one really can’t tell that it’s not America, but a European country. In Germany, when you say “football”, what comes to mind is a round ball, actually kicked across the field by players. And not an oval ball carried by hand by the players, for most of the game. It’s truly a testament to the unceasing efforts by the NFL to promote their game outside America’s borders.
Fans are excited to host the Chiefs after more than 3 decades

The Chiefs have fascinated the Germans ever since they played their first international game in Germany in 1990. The Chiefs had played against the Los Angeles Rams… and lost. But it seems they left an indelible mark on the German people. Now 33 years later, @KSHB41 took to X to share a video of the fans hosting an event ahead of the game. The tweet was captioned, “Chiefs Kingdom is out in full force in Frankfurt. Only one day to go until Game Day!”

Ever since the Chiefs’ resurgence as one of the NFL’s top teams, many Germans have devoted themselves to Mahomes and Co. In fact, a German couple are such die-hard fans that they flew across the Atlantic to Kansas City just to get married in the home of their favorite team. This is also the result of the constant push by the Chiefs’ management to promote their team in other countries. However, the Dolphins are not far behind.
Chiefs fans may outnumber Dolphins fans but the passion is the same
@MiamiDolFansDE, the official profile of the German Dolphins fan club, shared a video on X, of an event in a pub, with Dolphins fans prepping for the big day. The video was captioned, “Die Fans sind ready”, which translates to “The fans are ready”. The Dolphins have only recently begun to expand their fan base abroad. Considering they don’t have two recent Super Bowl wins, it’s amazing to see so many fans.

An X user, @angryvet59 pointed out, “Peter King says its 200 to 1 with KC fans over Miami.” The Phins’ fan account wasn’t having it. They explained, “I think that’s just personal perception. Most of the German Dolfans won’t be here until tomorrow. There wasn’t much on offer from our side today either. The picture will change a lot tomorrow.”

Even if the Dolphins have fewer fans on the ground, they are brimming with the same passion and devotion for their team as the Chiefs. Only time will tell which fanbase’s prayers and thoughts will help their team win.
