The Super Bowl rematch was a heartbreaker for the 49ers. They finally got a chance to settle the score with the Chiefs, but it just wasn’t their day. The Kansas City Chiefs once again proved they’re the team to beat, taking another win at the Santa Clara ground. It’s a tough pill to swallow, especially considering how close these teams are. But the Chiefs have now got the upper hand, winning five straight against the 49ers, including those two Super Bowl titles. No wonder the San Francisco 49ers coach was frustrated after the game.
While speaking to the media, HC Kyle Shanahan talked about the team’s offense and their quarterback, Brock Purdy. When media asked about the QB’s three interceptions and the inexperienced receivers’ play, Shanahan accepted the fault, saying, “I mean, we didn’t do anything really good on offense, I know he’d [Brock Purdy] love to have all three of those picks back, Brock has played unbelievable this year, done some good things on offense, but today, was the bad day.” In the game, Purdy completed 17-of-31 for 212 yards with 0 touchdowns. That’s one of the reasons why Shanahan didn’t seem happy with Purdy this time.
In addition to that, Shanahan responded to Purdy’s second interception when a curious reporter asked him whether it was a miscommunication or a missed throw. To which, the 44-year-old replied, “No, he just missed a throw,” and it wasn’t any miscommunication. Well, it is clear that Shanahan isn’t happy with what happened today, and that’s why he had a brutal response to the loss overall – “There’s no way to sugarcoat this. We got our a** kicked today.”

Obviously, after being given another chance to defeat the previous season’s Super Bowl rival, and ending up the game with another loss can lead to frustrations. But transferring this heat to the players in the locker room is justifiable? Well, if you take a glance at the 49ers fans on social media, many of them want Kyle Shanahan to be fired. However, the coach feels it’s the offense and the QB’s mistake, that’s why as per reporter Grant Cohn, “Kyle Shanahan just lectured Brock Purdy for five minutes at his locker. Purdy listened and said nothing.”
The 49ers lost Sunday’s game against the Chiefs with 18-28. And with that loss, the team is currently hit with another trouble – the potential season-ending injury.
Kyle Shanahan is fearing Brandon Aiyuk’s injury?
It was just in the offseason when the WR Brandon Aiyuk was holding out for his contract extension. Then after a long duration, the All-Pro finally signed with the team in September, to a four-year extension through the 2028 season. But now, it seems all the efforts might fade this season.

During the 49ers and the Chiefs’ game, with just 37 seconds left in the half, Bradon Aiyuk made a 15-yard catch from Brock Purdy. Now this catch wasn’t that easy, as he had to receive the ball between the two Chiefs’ defenders, Justin Reid and Chamarri Conner. And as a result, Reid’s body landed on Aiyuk’s left ankle, while Conner’s hip hit his right knee. Gruesome, isn’t it?

Nevertheless, Aiyuk still tried to walk it off, but the pain was unbearable and hence, he was carted off the field just before halftime. Shortly after that, the 49ers ruled him out of the game, and in the post-game presser, coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed that the team, via NBC, “fear that receiver Brandon Aiyuk has a torn anterior cruciate ligament.”
Well, the potential bad news is about to come on Monday, after Aiyuk undergoes an MRI. Till then, both Kyle Shanahan and the team are in fear and frustration!
