The night of the celebration for TJ Watt turned into a nightmare within seconds. His loving brother JJ Watt left aghast when he watched him suffer an avoidable injury after matching his record. But again, the 29-year-old linebacker has also etched his name in the NFL’s history book and JJ is proud at the same time.

The Steelers won 17-10 in their second consecutive game against the Jackson-less Ravens of the season. The win has bolstered their hopes to secure a playoff spot. Still, the win is not that sweet as TJ Watt injured his leg during the helm of play. After securing two sacks in the game, TJ Watt left the pivotal matchup after suffering a sprained MCL.

The Steelers and the Ravens were leveled up at 7-7. 4 minutes left to the third quarter TJ Watt went for an unsuccessful interception attempt but collided with his teammate, Montravius Adams. He immediately was taken off the ground and was feeling unbearable pain. According to reports, TJ Watt has been diagnosed with a Grade 3 MCL knee sprain. JJ Watt shared his feelings on X, after the heartbreaking incident.

 

He shared his feelings in the post, “No worse feeling.” He couldn’t write more and ended by saying, “Devastating.” Our sympathies with the brothers. After the injury, he was taken to the blue tent. Before the incident, TJ Watt achieved the world record by securing 19 sacks in multiple seasons. He became the fourth player to achieve this feat after his brother and two legends. That’s not just it.

JJ Watt recorded more than 19 sacks in 2012 and 2014, following in his footsteps TJ Watt has done the same in 2021 and in this season. other than this TJ Watt is closing in fast on the 100 mark in terms of sacks. Mark Gastineau did this for two consecutive years in 1983 and 1984. DeMarcus Ware achieved the feat in 2008 and 2010.

If the Steelers make it to the playoffs, TJ Watt needs to be up on his feet as the Steelers need him the most if they make the playoffs. Hoping for his quick recovery as the Steelers can now make the playoffs if the Bills or the Jaguars lose on Sunday. Both scenarios are possible, and the Steelers now stand a 70% chance of crossing the hurdle.
