There might have been some serious thought process that went into drafting the blazingly fast WR Xavier Worthy into the Chiefs’ arsenal. Did his speed or experience as a high school quarterback lead him to this point? Whatever it is, this multi-talented QB is set to step on the field and demolish the opposition in the coming season.

Worthy expressed his gratitude towards the Kansas City Chiefs for drafting him and seemed excited to work with Patrick Mahomes as his quarterback. The team lacking in its WR depth has found a weapon that can be honed into the next Tyreek Hill, or maybe someone better, in the coming seasons.

The ex-TTU receiver did a presser and laid out his immediate plans with the team and most importantly shed light on his relationship with Patrick Mahomes. However, before that Worthy mentioned that he is willing to go all in for the Kansas City Chiefs and live up to their “expectations.” “I feel like whatever they need me to do and whatever I have to do, I’m going to do it just to get on the field.”

But before he gets to go on the field, Worthy needs to solidify his relations with Patrick Mahomes. Fortunately, he’s had time to catch up with the star QB since he joined the Chiefs. The reporter asked the WR whether he had a chance to speak to his 3x Super Bowl-winning companion.

Xavier confirmed the communication by saying, “Yeah, I talked to him. Connected with him a little bit. He was excited about me coming to the camp, just learning the offense.” But Mahomes isn’t the only one worried about his future teammate, because Worthy was also scouting the Kansas City Chiefs and his QB to be.

When asked whether he “scouted” the Chiefs he said, “Oh yeah, it’s true. Anywhere with a quarterback, I feel like that was like my main spot,” said Worthy and added, “Pat just obviously was like, I feel like everybody want to play for Pat, just how amazing quarterback he is and how personable he is.”

But Worthy can relate to Mahomes in more than one way because he also used to be a QB in the past. Not just any QB, but a starting one!

Why Xavier Worthy is a good fit for the Chiefs because he used to be a starting quarterback during his days at Central East High. What this tells us is that he is attuned to Mahomes’ QB frequencies, can match the speed according to what the Chiefs QB1 needs, and better understand what Andy Reid is trying to accomplish on a particular play.

In STM Draft Fest, Worthy subtly mentioned that he can quarterback too, and the crowd got excited to hear about it. Not that he is going to do it for the foreseeable future, but it’s good to know that the Chiefs’ new receiver can see beyond his role and extend his talent to be one step ahead of the opposition.

People are already calling Worthy Tyreek Hill 2.0. He is exactly what Mahomes needs at this point. The KC team had a horrible WR roster, with Rashee Rice singlehandedly carrying the wideout department. Now that Worthy is here, Mahomes can push even more and increase his 3-Peat chances.
