The Dallas Cowboys haven’t been able to make a concrete decision about whether they will be keeping Dak Prescott in the next season or not. The QB will enter the free agency next year and any positive sign of Prescott sticking to the team is not in sight. However, whatever transpires between Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys, the QB seems to have the edge currently with multiple teams potentially being interested in him for the next season.

While the Dallas Cowboys CEO Stephen Jones appeared on Mad Dog Radio recently and mentioned that keeping Prescott around is a “priority” task for the Dallas Cowboys, matters still don’t seem to be on the best terms between the team and their captain.  Owner Jerry Jones’ previous statements about Dak Prescott don’t glitter with a lot of hope. Having in mind all this information, Emmanuel Acho and the SPEAK squad think that Dak Prescott will break the bank, just like he did in the past. More so, they pointed out the two most probable outcomes of Prescott’s situation.

Dak Prescott will most likely stay with the Cowboys!

At the moment, QB Dak Prescott has two obvious choices to make: either stay with the Cowboys or find a home somewhere else. The hosts of SPEAK aired out how Prescott managed to get a 4-year $160 million deal even after suffering a Pedal Ankle Fracture in 2020. The Cowboys decided to give him a new deal despite his injury.

Even after facing dark times, Prescott bounced back to deliver a winning season consistently. However, there is still no answer to why the Cowboys choked in the playoffs consistently despite all their assets and strategies working aptly. But it’s a new season with a new line up and Prescott might just shift gears to the direction this year.

David Helman on the show pointed out that despite a serious injury, the Cowboys gave the QB a no-trade and a no-tag clause on his contract, giving him the freedom to make his own decisions. Acho pointed out that the Cowboys never regretted keeping the 2x Pro Bowler on the roster and they are not going to do that now because the QB has repeatedly shown potential to keep the team floating.

“Dak had the worst thing that could possibly happen to him happen the last time he got into this situation. He got hurt five and a half games into the season and shredded his leg. The type of injury where you’re worried about how well he’s going to recover and what happened guys got paid, he got paid and he won the deal to a crazy degree. I’m going to make it my goal to always talk about that he got the 40 million, he got the $160 million deal and then on top of that he got a no-trade clause and a no-tag clause which is why we’re in this situation right now,” said Helman.

But for all we know, Stephen Jones, the Cowboys’ CEO might not allow for that to happen anytime soon as he is currently working towards solidifying a deal with Prescott.

Stephen Jones thinks Dak Prescott has it in him to get a championship trophy

John Machota, The Athletics’ reporter for the Dallas Cowboys pointed out that Stephen Jones believes that Dak Prescott can win a Super Bowl in Dallas. Jones pointed out how Prescott has been consistent with 12-game win seasons over the past 3 years. Upon reading between the lines, we know that Stephen Jones is itching to ink a deal ASAP.

“Absolutely. I mean, I totally think Dak can lead us to a championship. He does everything the right way. He’s certainly the leader of this football team. He keeps everybody motivated in the offseason. He’s got everybody working out and doing all the things that it takes to put in the work to give yourself every opportunity to win a championship. It just so happens that sometimes that old oblong football doesn’t bounce your way,” said Jones on the radio show.

Even Jerry Jones affirmed a few days ago that he wanted Prescott on the roster. “We want Dak Prescott, and that’s that,” Jones said, via the team’s website. Now, Stephen Jones didn’t exactly point out what’s stopping the Dallas Cowboys from giving a deal to Dak Prescott. But he pointed out that the Cowboys have been having winning seasons over the past few years and Prescott is already liked in the Cowboys.

These factors tip the scales more into Prescott’s favor, while the only problem here is that Prescott cannot be franchise tagged now. Now that Stephen Jones expressed his interest in signing the QB, history might repeat once again and Dak Prescott might stay after securing a more lucrative deal.
