Cleveland Browns backup QB Jameis Winston is a golf fan. Surprising, right? In reality, the football professional was recently captured supporting Scottie Scheffler, the 2x Masters champion. As the golf world relishes in the aftermath of the PGA Championship, the World No. 1 had issues other than the four competitive days to deal with. Recently, during Round 2 of the major tournament, Scheffler was arrested.
It was claimed that the golfer refused to obey, according to the LMPD report. Further, it was reported that when the officer attached himself to the car, Scheffler did not comply, pulled away, and caused “pain, swelling, abrasions to his left knee and wrist.” However, it is salient to note that such claims have been denied both by the golfer and his attorney.
Even the Louisville Mayor, Craig Greenberg, said there was no body-cam footage available from the officer. Additionally, Steve Romines, Scheffler’s attorney added, “The case is a misunderstanding and the golfer never disobeyed any officer’s orders.” While this has left the golf world divided speculating whether World No.1 was involved or not, QB Jameis Winston clearly has decided to support the golfer.

Despite Scottie Scheffler’s ‘Prison Tour,’ and everyone’s focus on the same, the young QB did not shy away from showcasing his admiration for the golf star. As far as the alleged case is concerned, it has been reported that the charges against Scheffler may soon be dropped. Prosecutors in Kentucky are reportedly planning to dismiss the charges. This development comes after Scheffler’s arraignment was postponed.
As the sports community awaits the official decision, Jameis Winston’s recent support for Scheffler at the PGA Tour highlights the solidarity among athletes. Winston’s enthusiasm for Scheffler’s talent and resilience mirrors his journey with the Cleveland Browns.

Browns have made a strategic addition to their roster by signing Winston as the backup quarterback to the injury-prone Deshaun Watson with a one-year, $4 million deal that includes $4.7 million in incentives on Wednesday. This move not only strengthens the team’s depth but also brings in Winston’s wealth of experience and leadership.
“The most important thing I believe is the relationship between me and Deshaun will continue to grow and flourish,” Winston said in his introductory press conference. “I look forward to allowing him to lean on me for anything that he needs and also encouraging him and providing him with different resources he probably hasn’t gotten from people who have been in the same room as him.”
Winston’s journey to the Browns is marked by his resilience and adaptability. After leading the NFL with 5,109 passing yards in 2019 and earning a Pro Bowl selection in 2015, he’s no stranger to the spotlight. His role in Cleveland is clear: to provide reliable support and step in when called upon, ensuring the Browns’ offense doesn’t miss a beat.
