Is it insensitive for the 49ers to party while Ricky Pearsall is hospitalized?

Before Tuesday, all NFL teams had to trim their rosters to 53 players, which the 49ers managed to do before the deadline. However, to offer reassurances, the 49ers’ HC, Kyle Shanahan, sent a strong message to the players who were released from the franchise. Although the players who didn’t make the final cut, it doesn’t necessarily mean their time with the organization has ended.

But among the announcements surrounding the 53-man roster, a key member of their franchise, rookie WR Ricky Pearsall, met with a serious accident during an attempted robbery on Sunday. Elsewhere, the 49ers seemed to be having a party at Kyle Shanahan’s house to celebrate their 53-man roster, as reported by Matt Maicoo.

Even though it could be a traditional party, as announced by Shanahan, celebrating at this hour doesn’t seem to be the right decision. As the 49ers rookie was s— in the chest, that led to him being seriously wounded. Providing an update on the situation, the 49ers issued a statement, “serious but stable after sustaining a bullet wound to the chest.” Well, offering an update on the situation, San Francisco Mayor London Breed said Pearsall remains in stable condition at San Francisco General Hospital.

However, going back to the incident, Pearsall was busy signing autographs when a 17-year-old male suspect tried an attempted robbery. This altercation quickly escalated, with Pearsall getting s— and heavily injured. Although the suspect was taken into custody, San Francisco Police Chief William Scott added that he might have been acting alone.

Reacting to this horror situation, 49ers WR Deebo Samuel was the first one to react. “He’s good. Thank God. Thoughts and prayers are with Ricky and the entire Pearsall family.” With the regular season away by a few weeks, will Pearsall’s absence affect the 49ers’ rosters, although he had the role of a backup going into the new season.

When the 49ers picked Pearsall in the first round of this year’s NFL draft, his selection raised many eyebrows as he was joining a receiver room that already had Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel in their ranks. But explaining the decision to pick him, Shanahan said, “He just plays the position really well. Whether he was outside, inside, either receiver, all three of the positions, he can separate down the field. He can separate underneath. He’s got really good hands, extremely smart, very well-developed.”

Although Pearsall comes with a lot of expectations, his time since joining the 49ers hasn’t been great. The rookie WR has missed training camp because of hamstring and shoulder issues. Now, after getting hospitalized and being brutally injured, Pearsall faces a lengthy time on the sidelines. With no expected recovery date, Shanahan would be hoping that Aiyuk and Samuel could continue to perform at their best level.

However, it remains to be seen whether the 49ers can avoid any other major absentees from the squad that is slated to go head-to-head against the Chiefs after their Super Bowl LVIII overtime loss last season.
