Tyreek Hill finally has a challenger who is faster in terms of speed. Or at least he claims to be. The person is none other than the Dolphins running back Raheem Mostert. Though the RB defined his body type as not being built for the track, with his running style more inclined to be “smooth,” he makes up for it with his effective techniques, trying to edge past Cheetah in the game of speed.

It’s undoubtedly a running debate between Tyreek Hill and Raheem Mostert, with the name of Jaylen Waddle also making a place in the discussion. Both Mostert and Hill think that they’re faster than each other and have their reasons for backing it. Recently, the Miami Dolphins WR went on the Third and Long show with Arik Armstead and was confronted with questions surrounding the same-old opinion. To maintain healthy competition, the Miami-based RB always takes Hill as a challenge and reflects on this ongoing banter-filled bond.

Arik Armstead wanted to know the answer to one of the most buzzing questions surrounding the Miami side, “So you got you, Waddle, and Tyreek obviously. So, who’s really the fastest out of you guys?” The Miami Dolphins RB didn’t even think of how he needed to answer that question and unequivocally thought that he would run circles around Hill, while he sidelined Waddle from the conversation.

“Man, you’re lookin’ at him,” said Mostert in an accusatory tone, calling Arik out for subconsciously putting Tyreek above Raheem in the discussion. The RB though after taking his own name was quick to add how Hill and him “argue all the time” about the same. Armstead then asked Mostert about what factors the two (Hill and Mostert) base their arguments on.

Not to anyone’s surprise, both players have a history of track and field and that’s the ground zero of their conversation. “Everybody goes back off a track, I’m like yeah, I’m like I got that too. I’m a 3 time Big 10 champ. I made the national championship twice. Unfortunately, I didn’t get it but I’m an All-American in track,” said Mostert. He further highlighted how the RB does not appear very fast while he his running, as he is much smooth while doing so, to which Armstead nodded in agreement.

However, alongside putting his own perspective forward, Mostert also recalled his conversation with the Chiefs RB Jerick ‘Jet’ McKinnon once about Hill. “I was talking to Jet McKinnon, Jet McKinnon when he played with him on the Chiefs and he was like, ‘Hey I’m telling you now like Tyreek is, he’s like a legit glitch’, I’m like, there’s no way,” said Mostert remembering the conversation.  Last year, we saw just how fast Hill was in a game against the Raiders.

The November 2023 game against the Las Vegas Raiders had everybody talking about the Miami WR. He outran not one, but five defenders after catching the ball from Tua Tagovailoa. This is what Mostert was talking about earlier, addressing Hill’s ability to run forward at full speed, while looking for just a second to catch the ball and keep rushing forward.

According to an NCAA report, Tyreek Hill recorded a top speed of 23.34 MPH in 2016. Raheem Mostert was the next behind him with his 23.09 MPH record. In the books, it doesn’t seem like a lot, but it undoubtedly gives an edge to the Miami side. Also, the Dolphins RB’s statements make more sense now, complimenting what he said about his own talent.

But despite Hill being faster than Mostert in the stats, the Dolphins RB has 18 touchdowns in the last season beating Tyreek Hill’s 13 touchdowns. Alas, it all ends up in Miami’s favor, with the 2023 offense of the side deemed fastest ever, courtesy Tyreek Hill, Raheem Mostert, Jaylen Waddle and Chosen Anderson.
