This was one of the most underwhelming games in the season so far. And we’re not saying it, the numbers speak for themselves. The 6-7 Atlanta Falcons were set to take on the 1-12 Carolina Panthers. Bad weather predictions coupled with the low record teams resulted in a ticket price drop to $4, that too on resale websites!
Entering the game, the Falcons were tied with two other teams for the top position in the NFC South. Now with the two other teams landing wins this week, and the Falcons losing to the Panthers, they are the second-worst team in their division. And which team is the worst? The Carolina Panthers. So, how did they manage to win the game vs Falcons?

Young has not managed to work his magic so far in the season, only securing one victory for the Panthers. But in the games vs Falcons, he shined. A user took to X to share a video of Bryce Young gallivanting to the locker room, all smiles and high-fiving his fans. With today’s victory, the Panthers ended their six-game losing streak and Young recorded his second win of the season.

In the game, Young even outplayed his opposing QB. While Desmond Ridder recorded 152 passing yards, Young recorded 167. Young had a pass completion rate of 75%, while Ridder had 60%. To be fair to Ridder, he did score a TD, while Young did not. But the Falcons’ QB also threw an interception, while Young’s record was spotless.
However, this win cannot be pinned solely on the Panthers’ QB. So, other than Young, what went right for the Panthers?

A fumbling Falcons’ offense: Saving grace for the Panthers
In the fourth quarter, the Panthers had a one-point lead at 7-6. The game could have swung in either team’s direction. But then a set of fumbles by the Falcons, of which only one by Bijan Robinson was recovered, and a poor offense failed to score more points for the Falcons. Ridder also threw a game-breaking interception in the red zone and that too in the crucial fourth quarter. Although it did not result in a touchdown for the Panthers, it cost them possession.
The Falcons have three games remaining to improve their score. The Panthers do not have much reason to celebrate either. Young took his 50th sack of the season and this was the fifth consecutive game in which the Panthers failed to score a touchdown in the first half. It looks like it’s time for Panthers fans to start preparing for the next season and call off this one.
