Aaron Rodgers seems to have an on-off relationship with baseball. The New York Jets’ veteran quarterback used to play at shortstop, center field, and pitcher in his school days. While he might have stopped playing baseball, there are certain teams that he still roots for in the sport. It’s a common consensus that there’s a relationship between New York Jets and the Mets, just like how NY Giants fans are mostly Yankees fans.
But Rodgers chose to break the norm and he’s chosen to support the New York Yankees this time around. The New York Yankees are going against the Seattle Mariners right now and the Jets QB decided to take a visit to the Yankees Stadium to support the New York team.

A post from the account named Jomboy Media has caused a bit of confusion among football and baseball fans. Their post on X was titled, “Aaron Rodgers has officially chosen the Yankees over the Mets,” and shows the Jets QB enjoying the game in privacy. But after the game was over, Rodgers was seen hanging out with the musician mike. and Marcus Stroman, the Yankees pitcher. His affinity for the Yankees has garnered mixed reactions from baseball fans. Some want him to support the Yankees and others want him to take up the Mets as his team of preference.

Another account by the name of Jets Videos revealed how Rodgers watched Once Upon a Time in Queens about a year ago, which is a four-part film on the ’86 New York Mets. It showed the struggles of the Mets, who were shortly met with a downfall following a World Series Championship and went bankrupt.
Rodgers went to Mad Dog Radio last year and connected the dots between the Jets and Mets and fans as the teams have their roots in Long Island. “But the reason I’m telling the story is that the Mets fans, many Mets fans are Jets fans, obviously the Jets used to be in Long Island, and a ton of fans from that area,” explained the QB.
Elaborating on the passion he experiences from New York fans, the QB pointed out how special a victory in the Super Bowl would be in a place like New York. But there’s more to this Mets, Yankees, and Aaron Rodgers triangle than what meets the eye.

Last year, Aaron Rodgers took to the Pat McAfee show and informed that the New York Mets had invited him to attend a game. But it seemed like the football player might have been more interested in attending a game for the New York Yankees. He admitted that he wanted to throw the first pitch for the Yankees but didn’t hear from them yet.

“Listen, the Mets actually reached out,” said Rodgers. “I haven’t heard from the Yankees yet, though. I don’t know if they tried to reach out or not, but I would love to do that at some point. I want to go to Yankee Stadium and Citi Field as well – both of them,” said Rodgers.
Fast forward a year later, we see Rodgers at the Yankees Stadium, still not being able to throw the first pitch. Though Rodgers has already completed the milestone of throwing the first pitch to the Milwaukee Brewers with his friend Ryan Braun in 2011, it would still be a special moment to see him throw the ball for the Yankees. Maybe some other time in the future, we’ll see Rodgers in the Yankees’ bullpen, all set to hit a new special for the New York side.
