Could Romeo Doubs be the missing piece in the Ravens' passing game puzzle?

It’s never good for a coach not to have faith in his players. It’s not like a coach bears all the fault for a defeat, but he should never blame his boys. Yet we’ve been having a surprising amount of that recently from the Jaguars’ Doug Pederson to the recently dismissed Jets’ Robert Saleh. You can’t make your players feel like you don’t have faith in them, you’re part of one unit. Maybe that’s why it’s so heartening to see John Harbaugh stand by his boys and know they’re good enough to win games with.

Commenting on the possibility of a Davante Adams trade, he’d said, “You know how we feel about our guys. I really can’t comment on anybody else’s players… We love our guys.” Well, despite Harbaugh’s reluctance to take on a new wide receiver at the time, it looks like Romeo Doubs is Ravens-bound, though there’s no official word yet.

With the trade deadline, David Latham has pointed out that the Green Bay Packers wide receiver will likely end up with the Ravens. “Romeo Doubs wants more targets, and the wide receiver could get his wish if Green Bay trades him to the Baltimore Ravens. Zay Flowers is the only proven option in the passing game, and Doubs’ style is a perfect complement for the former first-round pick,Latham wrote on Last Word on Sports.

So far, Flowers is the only proven wide receiver of the Ravens, whereas Jackson relies heavily on relies on the tight ends. Additionally, Baltimore needs another weapon in their passing arsenal, and this is where Doubs might fit perfectly alongside Flowers. Provided the trade happens, the Ravens would look to slide Doubs on the No. 2 role on the depth chart and give him more plays. Doubs is currently in his third NFL season and has recorded 12 receptions for 169 yards in four games. Though in the last season, he had 59 receptions for 674 yards and eight touchdowns.

Moving on, Doubs has said that the two days of practice he missed were for personal reasons. The misconduct earned him a one-game suspension and sparked loads of rumors. It’s no secret he’s looking to get a more active role on the field. And he wouldn’t be the first to sulk in an attempt to get it.

Could Romeo Doubs become the next Haason Reddick?

Haason Reddick’s become something of a laughing stock by now, with even Aaron Rodgers joking about it. In short, the 30-year-old linebacker wanted a contract extension before he ended up a free agent. It was either that or a transfer to a team that would give him one. The way he decided to do this was by sitting out practice, and then every single game.

Have an interesting take?

This was a negotiation tactic, but it’s since backfired. Not only did team management refuse to negotiate till he stopped his holdout, but the CAA’s since fired him. There’s not a chance Doubs going that far. He’s already back at practice, and he’s done everything he can to not make it look like a holdout. Doubs will be depending on the goodwill he’s earned with the Green Bay Packers over the last three years. Here’s hoping he can find what he’s looking for with the Baltimore Ravens.
