Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys finally addressed their running back problem and invested in a familiar face all over again. Yes, the team signed Ezekiel Elliott as their veteran running back and Dak Prescott is stoked about it. It’s no surprise that Elliott has quite a reputation in the Dallas locker room and all the guys respect him for his contributions to the team.

The reunion became the talk of the town because some people found it underwhelming due to the fact that Jerry Jones didn’t really go “all in” on the drafts. But for Dak Prescott, things seem to have gotten somewhere on track with his old teammate back into the side. He addressed Elliott making it back to the Cowboys in an interview with The Athletic.

“Yeah, super excited. Knowing our history, my experience with him as a teammate, understand what he brings to the table just the locker room alone,” said Prescott. “The guy that does everything the right way. From the locker room to the field.” “Excited for him to be back,” added Prescott while talking about Elliott.

Zeke had an underwhelming season with the New England Patriots while having played all the games. He produced 642 yards and had 3 touchdowns for the whole season. Though Elliott has been healthy for most of his career with the Cowboys and didn’t miss a lot of games, his 2022 season with the Dallas team saw some decline in performance in terms of yardage. The RB had 876 yards and 12 touchdowns in the 2022 season.

However, before Elliott, the Cowboys in the previous year relied on Tony Pollard, who had one of the best seasons of his career in 2023 with 1,005 rushing yards and 6 touchdowns. The team let Pollard become a free agent, so he signed a 3-year deal with the Tennessee Titans. Now, with Elliott back as their veteran RB, the Cowboys would look to make the most of this unprecedented situation.

After the Cowboys welcomed Elliott with open arms once again, the RB took to X and shared a simple message that said, “RUN IT BACK.” Elliott has a great relationship with Dak Prescott, who thinks of him as a brother. “I can’t imagine taking the field without him,” said Prescott about Elliott earlier.

After signing 1-year $3 million deal with the Dallas team, Elliott had a message for the team, “It feels great to be home. I definitely missed being here. I missed this building. I missed Cowboys’ nation. I’m definitely excited and ready to get this thing going.”

While eyes remain trained on Zeke’s re-entry into the team, it would be his compatibility with Dak that most people will have their attention on when the season begins. With not much change in the O-line structuring, Cowboys would want their veteran stars to step up before the contract end of Prescott.
