The New York Giants are slipping down the rabbit hole. After week 8 loss against the Steelers, their hopes of a good season have been dashed. It was an embarrassment. A win-loss record of 2-6 after 8 weeks is the last thing they expected. But something happened during the game that rubbed one legend of the game, Eli Manning, the wrong way. He is disappointed in the G-Men, particularly the quarterback Daniel Jones.
While watching the game, the former Giants signal caller first said. “They got to motion this end over.” But when he saw that it was not being done, he just ranted, “Do it. And the Steelers, blitzed the linebacker. I don’t know how you cannot chip Watt on the biggest play of the game.” But what exactly happened that provoked him?

In the 4th quarter, Steelers QB Russell Wilson made a fumble, and the Giants quickly recovered it. With 3:07 remaining in the game, the Giants were on 3rd & 7. While Jones was looking for a teammate to pass to, TJ Watt made way past the linebacker and made a sack from the signal caller’s hands. It sent a shockwave among the fans while the Steeler Nation rejoiced.
Eli Manning’s rant was right. He led them to 2 Super Bowls in his 16-year-long career and was the MVP in both those seasons. But now, the franchise has deteriorated to lows of low. After the legend retired in 2019, the team has qualified for the playoffs only once.

Eli Manning’s replacement is still the starting quarterback
TJ Watt, the Steelers’ best player, has always been a threat to their rivals. Daniel Jones learned it firsthand why he is rated so highly. But it wouldn’t change the outcome. While taking responsibility for his mistake, the Giants QB said, “I needed to shift. Theo (Johnson) was looking at the coverage, and I didn’t shift him, and Jermaine expected my chip, and he didn’t get that. That’s my fault.” That doesn’t help the Big Blue who signed a 4-year $160 million contract extension with him in the 2023 off-season.

Eli Manning’s replacement came up short during the game. He had 24 of 38 passes (63% completion rate) with 264 yards and one interception. But the head coach Brian Daboll’s faith in his signal-caller remains unshaken. While talking to reporters on October 29, he announced that Jones would remain their quarterback.
They would play against Commanders in week 9 matchup on November 3. If they want to recover from their disastrous campaign so far, the locker room has to unite and reassess their strategy. Only accepting the failure wouldn’t work anymore. The season is going into the decisive stages. It’s high time for improved planning.
