Russell Wilson may be rocking Steelers black and gold, but he’s still got a soft spot for Seattle! On their wedding anniversary, Wilson and his wife Ciara surprised patients and families at Seattle Children’s Hospital.

A tweet from Seattle Children read, “Earlier today, @ciara and @DangeRussWilson surprised patients and families before Ciara’s performance… We are thankful…” Wilson re-shared the tweet with the caption, “Keep Believing! Keep Fighting! Y’all are real life superheroes!”

But Wilson’s giving spirit doesn’t stop there. Back in Pittsburgh, he treated about 150 kids from the Boys and Girls Club of Western Pennsylvania to a special day at Dick’s Sporting Goods in Ross Park Mall. Wilson’s visit was part of the club’s summer camp kick-off, organized in collaboration with the Why Not You Foundation.

Chris Watts, President and CEO of Boys and Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania, said, “We were blown away.” Wilson, who himself grew up connected to the club, said, “It’s so exciting, and I think the Boys and Girls Club doing an amazing job!”

Russell Wilson keeps on inspiring, bringing hope and dreams to Pittsburgh’s future generations. He’s still dedicated to giving back and making a difference, despite his exit with the Seahawks.

Seahawks shake up roster and ship out Wilson despite Carroll’s denials

Russell Wilson’s future in Seattle became the talk of the town after the 2021 season. Rumors flew about his frustration with the Seahawks’ offensive line and wanting more say in team decisions. Then, in March 2022, bam! Russ was traded to the Broncos, shaking up the roster.

But honestly, the trade wasn’t a total surprise. After their 2021 playoff run, the Seahawks knew they had to shake things up. At 33, Russell Wilson was still a top asset. Despite Pete Carroll swearing they wouldn’t trade him, Seattle ended up scoring big from Denver: loads of draft picks and players in exchange for their star QB.

For the Broncos, snagging Wilson was a no-brainer. Ever since Peyton Manning retired, they’d been hunting for a franchise QB, and Wilson fit the bill as their Super Bowl savior. Seattle benefited too, freeing up cap space, while Denver got a real shot at the Lombardi Trophy.

With Wilson departing as their top passer ever and the mastermind behind their lone Super Bowl win, it closed an era in Seattle. Time will tell if it was a win for the team, though they have won no super bowl since then. The Seahawks’ fans will always remember the Russell Wilson era.
