Is Brock Purdy the new NFL sensation, or is Trump just stirring the pot again?

Ever expected a cross-over between NFL and politics? Well, now we can. Former president Donald Trump is a close observer of the game. He is clear about his likes and dislikes and also doesn’t feel shy about disclosing them.

Trump surprised many during his appearance on the Bussin’ With the Boys podcast when he heaped praise on San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy. Trump seemed to shift his focus away from Patrick Mahomes to gush over Purdy’s impressive NFL journey. He marveled at Purdy’s rise from being “Mr. Irrelevant,” the last pick of the 2022 NFL Draft, to becoming a star. “He’s really good. You never know,” Trump said, noting how Purdy stepped in and led the team when others got injured, “He just moved the team. That was the end of that.”

Trump continued to draw attention to the unpredictability of sports, emphasizing that Purdy was drafted last, but “he’s not irrelevant anymore.” Comparing him to top college players who often don’t pan out in the NFL, Trump remarked, “You take the best player that anyone’s ever seen out of college, and he turns out to be not so good.” Clearly impressed, Trump saw Purdy’s success as a testament to both luck and skill.

Whether intentional or not, Trump’s latest comments highlight his admiration for underdogs like Purdy, leaving Mahomes in the rearview mirror for the moment.

Just earlier, the ex-president referred to Mahomes’ wife, Brittany, as his “favorite.” But her husband is quietly been overshadowed, as the $90 million quarterback seemed to be less worthy than the $6 million player.

Donald Trump praises Brittany Mahomes, takes a dig at Taylor Swift

What’s your perspective on:

Is Brock Purdy the new NFL sensation, or is Trump just stirring the pot again?

Have an interesting take?

Donald Trump earlier sparked buzz by praising Brittany Mahomes, wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, in a phone interview with Fox & Friends. The day after Taylor Swift publicly endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris, Trump made his thoughts clear, saying, “I actually like Mrs. Mahomes much better, if you want to know the truth. She’s a big Trump fan.” He went on to call Brittany “great” and a “big MAGA fan,” highlighting her apparent political support after she liked—and later unliked—one of his Instagram posts.

Patrick Mahomes, however, took a neutral stance when asked about Trump’s comments during a press conference. He emphasized that his focus is on his family and how they positively contribute to the community, saying, “At the end of the day, it’s about me and my family and how we treat other people.” He added, “I can’t let that affect how I go about my business every single day and live my life.”

Trump also took a dig at Taylor Swift, stating, “I was not a Taylor Swift fan,” criticizing her consistent endorsement of Democrats and warning she might “pay a price” in the marketplace for her political views.

Trump’s comments seem to aim at leveraging Brittany’s perceived support while contrasting it with Swift’s liberal stance, adding fuel to ongoing debates about politics and pop culture’s influence.
