Brandon Aiyuk’s contract renewal is at stake, says the former wide receiver, Greg Jennings. In a recent podcast at The Carton Show, host Craig Carton and former wide receiver analyze why Aiyuk is facing difficulty ahead of contract.

“However, Brandon, I, you get as great as he is. He’s not going to get that money,” remarked Greg. The analysts believe Brock Purdy heavily relies on Brandon Aiyuk in critical situations due to Aiyuk’s excellent route running and playmaking. “This is Brock Purdy’s guy. When he needs a play to be made, third down, third and long, uh, clutch situation, situational football, under two minutes, whatever you need to play, you better believe Brock Purdy is looking for Brandon IU” as Greg went on to say.

“I think you have, you have to sign, but as you were saying to me off the air, uh, the advice you give to these guys is wait, ’cause you’ll get the big wood.” were Greg’s further words for Aiyuk. Similar to how Patrick Mahomes relies on Travis Kelce and Lamar Jackson on his tight end, Purdy finds comfort in Aiyuk.

Brandon Aiyuk’s contract talks are shaped by his importance to the 49ers, despite Deebo Samuel’s presence. Experts suggest he targets a $30 million annual contract, akin to top receivers, and advises waiting for Justin Jefferson and T. Higgins to sign, potentially securing a $35 million deal. Aiyuk is viewed as deserving a five-year, $150 million contract with significant guarantees, emphasizing the value of patience in securing the optimal deal.

Amidst the negotiations surrounding Brandon Aiyuk’s contract renewal, the dynamics between the player, his teammates, and the management team come into sharp focus. Against the backdrop of expert advice advocating for patience, the complexity of securing Aiyuk’s future with the 49ers becomes increasingly apparent.

Brandon Aiyuk’s need for the contract

The vital connection between Brock Purdy and Brandon Aiyuk emphasizes the necessity of finalizing Aiyuk’s contract. However, negotiations remain unresolved, prompting Aiyuk to miss voluntary OTAs. Despite this, GM John Lynch and Purdy are vocal about their intent to keep Aiyuk, as highlighted in a recent press conference.

When asked about getting a deal done, Purdy said (via NBC Sports), “Yeah, I think it’s extremely important. He is a playmaker. Love throwing to him. Love B.A. as a person. So yeah, it’s definitely important.” Purdy added that the situation is out of his hands and he’s currently focused on what he can control.
