The Dallas Cowboys has franchise-tagged Dak Prescott twice in the past and renewed his deal to a 4-year one in 2021 when he made $160 million. But getting Jerry Jones’ trust twice and not being able to take the Cowboys any closer to the trophy has been putting a lot of pressure on the team and its players. It’s been 3 decades since the Cowboys have been able to overcome the drought.
Moreover, other players like CeeDee Lamb haven’t been reporting to voluntary training because of a reported contractual crunch. The Cowboys are taking a step back instead of going forward and the hosts of SPEAK had a few things to say about it. They went as far as to call the Cowboys’ efforts “asinine,” amidst the crucial time of team-building.
In the beginning, the host pointed out how the Cowboys have been lagging despite being 2 in the league in terms of winning the most regular season games. Adding to that at least half a dozen all pro players, including Dak Prescott, the team fails to deliver time and over. The host pointed out how the team doesn’t want to commit to Prescott and is letting their free agents leave. “They look like a team that’s ready to reset,” said Dave Helman.

Earlier, the Cowboys owner stated his intentions of going “all in” this off-season. But by the looks of it, things are getting colder by the day for the Dallas team. Helman picked this up and had a few comments to add about the situation. He even thought that Mike McCarthy’s job may be in trouble this year. “Jerry Jones said all in they haven’t even put like a chip in.”
What is "all in"? Cowboys owner Jerry Jones: "Your definition of what is all in and mine might not be the same thing, but I’m trying to win the games this year with my decision. So I’m all in to this year."
Jones later expanded: "I've drafted quarterbacks for the future, OK. I…

Helman then pointed out how the Cowboys are not giving Prescott his final franchise tag and if they fail to do so before the season begins, other teams might “court” Prescott and give him a better deal. “You lose control of this situation if you let him get to the season without a new deal so for the Cowboys to say like: ‘Oh yeah, we could do that’, it’s Asinine it doesn’t make any sense because the ball is out of their Court,” said Helman reflecting on the Cowboys’ situation.
But regardless of what the Cowboys fans might think, Jerry Jones made his stance clear on the situation.

Jerry Jones mentioned earlier that by signing Dak Prescott, Micah Parsons, and CeeDee Lamb, the Cowboys would risk not being able to sign other players, which might be more lucrative for the team. Moreover, the CeeDee Lamb situation is quite a conundrum for the Dallas team because he didn’t show up to the recent voluntary training camp.

Lamb is set to earn about $17.9 million this year as the Cowboys picked him up on a 5-year option. Even he wasn’t offered an extension. He could easily make about $25-$30 million in the next season if someone else decides to sign him. Moreover, Micah Parsons also decided to skip practice, though that wasn’t contract-related. But per sources, he is now also demanding a new contract.
So, it’s not just Dak Prescott that the Cowboys have to be worried about. It’s the pieces surrounding the QB as well. What would Jerry Jones do? Let us know what you think about the Dallas team’s crisis right now.
