The biggest update on Aaron Rodgers‘s 2023 has arrived from the QB himself. With the Jets officially out of the playoffs, Rodgers has decided to stay out of the field for the year. While that’s exactly what the fans would have wanted to hear, the QB has given a follow-up update to the announcement.
And it is something positive for the team in dire need of Rodgers and for his fans. The QB has expressed his wish to hang on with the New York-based franchise for a few more years, seeing himself actively competing near his mid-forties.

Speaking on the Pat McAfee show on Tuesday, Rodgers revealed that he won’t be seeing the field again in 2023. While the news came as a heartbreak for the Jets and the fans, he had something positive to share. Rodgers revealed that he doesn’t believe that 2024 will be the last year of his contract with the Jets.

The NFL star expressed his interest in playing for the Jets in his forties and staying with the team. He signed a two-year contract with the Jets for a whopping $75 million in April. However, his first season was pretty much wasted after Rodgers tore his Achilles tendon in the very first game of the season, against the Bills at MetLife.
His record-quick recovery time has kept the fans at the edges of their seats throughout the season, but the star himself was not happy with his performance. According to him, he was not able to give his 100 percent, and hence he decided not to play anymore this season.

While the fans and the QB himself remained hopeful about a year-end comeback since his surgery, it all came down to the QB not being 100% well enough to play. And probably the Jets’ disastrous season too. “I do feel like in the next three to four weeks, it would have been very possible to get to 100 percent, but obviously not there,” Rodgers informed Pat McAfee. He shared that he was close to the medical clearance, but he was not quite there yet.
Had the Jets been able to get a playoff call, it would have given the 4x NFL MVP the additional time to make his return. But that hasn’t been the case this year for the team. Despite the dissatisfactory finish, the Jets have something to cheer for: Rodgers’ comeback next season and the possibility of seeing him around past his two-year deal.
