The Ravens’ season finished with a 25-27 divisional game loss against the Bills. But Derrick Henry isn’t slacking. He emerged as one of the best RBs in the league in 2024. With 16 TDs from 1,921 rushing yards in 17 games, he tied Lions’ Jahmyr Gibbs and Bills ‘James Cook for most TDs by a running back in the 2024 season. Even in rushing yards, he was only behind Eagles’ Saquon Barkley (2,005). What’s the secret? Well, you won’t have to look further as the player has revealed that himself…

“No rest, only work!” The mantra that Henry probably chants every day. And looks like fans are getting a first-hand experience of that vigor! Just days after getting eliminated, he was back in the gym, sweating it out. The 31-year-old shared an Instagram post from his trainer, Melvin Sanders, on his Instagram Story. Squatting with kettlebells in different variations, he gave a glimpse of his sturdy legs. That explains why he is almost unstoppable on the gridiron once the ball is in his hands. “YEAR 9 DOWN!! And I SWEAH WE GETTIN BETTER. WE BACK AT IT 🦾🦾,” the caption read.

The visuals also featured a similar message, as Sanders wrote, “THE 👑 BACK AT IT!!”

Seeing him working out reminded us of Tom Brady’s HOF speech when he famously said, “It’s hard when you’re young to wake up in the offseason at 6 am to go train and workout knowing that all your friends are sleeping in and eating pancakes.” However, Derrick Henry is a 9-year veteran. And he knows that without a strong work ethic, success will be far.

For starters, this isn’t the first time he has adopted this strategy. Even last year, Henry was back in the gym in February, putting work behind closed doors, when no one is watching. His trainer also understands this. Sanders, a former NBA pro, has trained many NFLers including Dak Prescott. In 2023, the gym trainer shared a reel showing how the Cowboys QB benefitted from customized cable extension exercises.

Speaking of the Cowboys, their linebacker took something that sounded like a mean jibe at the Ravens RB. But in fact, it was a shot at his own team.

Micah Parsons’ reality check to the locker room invoking Derrick Henry

Dallas linebacker Micah Parsons appeared on Mad Dog Sports Radio on Wednesday, February 5. While talking to Adam Schein, the Cowboys player said, “We struggled so much, I’m afraid Derrick Henry wouldn’t even have helped us.” That’s painful and hilarious at the same time!

It stemmed from the fact that in free agency last year, Derrick Henry was in Dallas. But the Cowboys didn’t even try to contact him. And the RB later said that he would have loved a phone call to discuss the possibilities. That didn’t happen, and the Cowboys finished without playoff qualification with a 7-10 win-loss record. They also parted ways with HC Mike McCarthy as a result and a lot of water has flown under the bridge since then.

The linebacker praised how things worked out for the running back who ended up going to the Ravens. It was a great year, but in the end, they also faltered. However, as rightly called out by Parsons, the Ravens, powered by their RB-QB duo, will probably make a stronger push for the Super Bowl in 2025 than the Cowboys.
