Is Derrick Henry's success on the field fueled by his strong family support system?

Since joining the Ravens this season, RB Derrick Henry has found himself making the headlines. Leading the league in rushing yards (704) after seven weeks of NFL action, Henry is poised to have a huge season in Baltimore. Although he had spent eight years with the Titans before signing with the Ravens. This season, fans are excited to learn what goes behind his personal life that helps the 30-year-old put up breath-taking performances every week.

Well, the secret to his successful stint in the NFL till now could stem from his supportive relationship with his girlfriend, Adrianna Rivas, who hails from a family of five with her parents and two brothers, Daniel and Adriel. She completed her bachelor’s in public relations from the University of Texas in 2016. The same year she started dating Henry while he got drafted into the NFL by the Titans in the second round. However, they kept their relationship a secret until next year.

Posting a picture of her with Henry and one of their dogs in 2017, the couple finally acknowledged their relationship in public. The couple was seen together at the ESPY Awards in New York City in 2021. Over the years, Rivas has continued to play the role of a supportive girlfriend. One of those instances came in late 2018 when Henry recorded his 99-yard TD run against the Jaguars.

Capturing that moment live, she later posted a video on her Instagram with the caption, “Just Watch.” And it wasn’t the only moment she hyped up her boyfriend for his achievements. Recently, after the NFL announced Henry’s Week 6 honor of the AFC Offensive Player of the Week, Rivas, shared a post on social media to congratulate the tailback.

Rivas captioned her Instagram Story post “SO. PROUD.” along with a “raising hand” emoji. Apart from that, Rivas was present for Henry’s press conference post-signing with the Ravens. Although the couple aren’t married yet, Rivas often posts about their kids and family on Instagram.

Rivas and Henry are blessed with two lovely daughters, Valentina Allure and Celine Amor. Their first daughter came into the world in 2020, when Rivas announced her pregnancy on Instagram in January of that year. Valentina was born on May 18. Fast forward to Christmas 2023.

Henry’s girlfriend gave yet another announcement. Sharing a family photo with the caption, “From our growing family to yours, Merry Christmas,” the couple was expecting again. With that, their second daughter, Celine Amor, came into their life on April 22, 2024.

On the eve of Father’s Day this year, Rivas shares a video of their daughters with Henry, “I love watching our babies look at you. The view only gets sweeter with time. They feel how loved and protected they are in your arms and in your eyes. I thank God every day that you are who he gave to me and our girls. We love and appreciate you so much.” However, fatherhood comes with its challenges, and Henry also has his own.

In 2020, Henry had joked with Kevin Hart on his show ‘Cold As Balls’ that he wasn’t sleeping much as a new father. Despite that, the four-time Pro-Bowler had said to ‘The Athletic’, that his family is “all the motivation I need in this world.” Henry and Rivas’ family are also close to some of his teammate’s families, including quarterback Ryan Tannehill.

“There’s a lot of things we can be happy about. His wife and my girl, they’re close. My little girl loves his kids,” Henry had said of Tannehill after the running back played his final game with the Titans in 2024. Something that makes Besides their two daughters, something that makes the family even more exciting is their two dogs, a Goldendoodle, Nala, and a Rottweiler mix, Nino. With such a loving family behind, Derrick Henry is set to redefine his career this season, as the Ravens RB has taken his new chapter in the NFL by storm.
