Last year was tumultuous for the New Orleans Saints. A drastic change was required, which came in the form of 4X Pro Bowler QB Derek Carr. The former Las Vegas Raiders QB signed a hefty four-year contract of $150 million. But things haven’t gone as planned.
Again, it was a dismal and disappointing season, with no playoff dreams alive. And the highly paid, newly arrived QB is on the firing line. He has been facing criticism for several weeks now. But against the Panthers, he received harsh treatment from a teammate himself!
Derek Carr has to justify his worth

Head coach Dennis Allen previously worked with Carr at the Raiders. Hence, he was one of the top choices for the QB role at the Saints. But the 32-year-old has been unpredictable and error-prone throughout the season. And this time, on an interception, the center Erik McCoy blasted him in a viral showdown.

Carr is known to make plays with all his limbs, but this season, all his faculties seem to have left him, including being a leader and a supporter of his teammates. That frustration is visible on the field. Be it the players’ faces or the team’s results.

The Saints won easily against the worst team in the conference this season, the Carolina Panthers. There is much to worry about Carr and the Saints’ future. This is not only limited to the upcoming games but also his future at the Saints. This future could be cut short due to numerous injuries as well.
Derek Carr keeps coming back
In the last three games, Carr has been concussed twice. Each time, though, he has been cleared to play, including the game against the Panthers. There are concerns that these concussions could not only shorten his playing future but also affect his long-term health. However, Carr disagrees with this notion.

“It didn’t feel like the two were even related to one another. So, for me, that’s just sometimes the price of doing business and playing football. So no concern on that part, long term or short term,” Carr said before the game against the Panthers.
