This year was special for the Kansas City Chiefs! However, it was more special for the Chiefs’ safety, Deon Bush. The 30-year-old welcomed his new born with his wife, Amina Smith. And the best thing, their son was born in February, a couple of days ahead of the Super Bowl win.
Smith, who has a near-obsession of watch NBA games, shared a post of double celebration on her social media account. She posted a picture of hers holding their newborn in her arms, with a caption saying: “Just in time to watch daddy play in his first Super Bowl 🥹♥️. Let’s go 26! #ChiefsKingdom ♥️💛” Additionally, this Super Bowl was special for Smith as well. She, being an avid supporter of Deon Bush, attended her husband’s Super Bowl game for the first time, as she couldn’t make it to the previous year’s victory. Let’s find out more about her!

Deon Bush’s wife, Amina Smith, is a multi-platform host and on-air talent with ESPN. Previously, she worked with NBC Sports Boston. For three years, Smith has been covering the New England Patriots and hosting flagship programming for the Boston Celtics. For her outstanding achievement on television, ahead of ESPN’s job, the anchor received an Emmy Award. Acknowledging the contributions, Smith thanked her husband Bush for his support. The couple got married to each other in February, 2021. Besides her work, Smith also supports her husband, Bush, in his games by attending matchups and cheering for him from the stands.

Last year, the mother of two couldn’t attend the Super Bowl in Arizona because she was about to give birth. However, in February, she got to celebrate in person when the Chiefs won the title again. This made her appreciate the moment both as a proud wife and as a working journalist. She described the back-to-back wins unbelievable and shared how she celebrated in Vegas with 20-30 family members, including their baby.
Smith finds it valuable to remember that the athletes she interviews are human beings who enjoy their jobs and work hard for their achievements. Although she loves seeing everybody conquering their barriers, Smith herself has overcome a lot of struggles to be here where she is!

Amina Smith loves watching obscure NBA games, which her husband, Deon Bush, finds baffling. He often expresses his frustration, but Smith is dedicated to watching even the less popular games. This dedication helped her achieve her dream job as an ESPN anchor. Growing up in Brooklyn, Smith always viewed ESPN as the pinnacle of sports broadcasting. Her passion for sports began with her involvement in track and field, where she ran long-distance (3000 meter, 200 meter, 800 meter and a mile) events in high school and college.

However, after transferring to the University of Miami, she decided to focus on her studies instead of early morning training sessions. Smith pursued her degree and gained experience working for hundreds of jobs. She eventually secured a role as a reporter and substitute anchor at 6 News in Lawrence, KC, in 2014. Transitioning from a football-centric environment to a town known for college basketball was a significant adjustment for her. And those years came in help for the journalist, after 3 years, when she landed herself a host role for NBC Sports Boston, covering Celtics. And now, as she got her dream job, Smith feels thrilled and blessed.
