Is Spencer Rattler the right choice for the Saints, or is it time to bring back Derek Carr?

The 33-10 defeat was a reality check for the New Orleans Saints to hire someone else to be their quarterback. Spencer Rattler is just not cutting it. The defense must cover up for him and the blowout loss just proved that the Saints definitely need Derek Carr back. STAT! But the defense will be ineffective for a while considering what happened to Paulson Adebo.

The Saints cornerback was carted out of the game and sent to a hospital 6 miles away from the Caesars Superdome. There was some apparatus on his knee that was low-key frightening to see. The New Orleans Saints head coach Dennis Allen has come forward with the much-awaited update.

An update on Paulson Adebo

Per Mike Triplett, who covers Saints football: “Dennis Allen said Saints CB Paulson Adebo has a broken femur.” The shocking news has the Saints fans shaken. They were already in shambles during the game. Some of them were crying, others were simply unhappy with the performance that Spencer Rattler stitched together tonight.

But before we talk about Spencer Rattler, let’s take a look at what happened to Adebo. The injury occurred in the second quarter when Javonte Williams had possession of the ball, and he was being chased by a defender. Adebo came from the front and tried to tackle the Broncos RB, but got injured instead.

John Hendrix, a lead writer for the Saints football team provided an update saying Adebo will undergo a surgery in just a couple of hours. Per Hendrix’s post on X: “Dennis Allen said that Paulson Adebo should have surgery tonight.”

Paulson Adebo was holding his right knee and the medical staff rushed to check him out. He was immediately helped to the cart, and they fitted his right leg with a vacuum splint. The cornerback started in every game this season and went out with 6 total tackles to his name in the matchup against the Broncos. He was replaced by Kool-Aid McKinstry later.

Sadly, cornerback Marshon Lattimore (hamstring) and Nick Saldiveri (shoulder) were also ruled out of the game. The injuries made it even harder for Spencer Rattler to do anything in the game.

New Orleans might need to work some more with Spencer Rattler

Understandably, Rattler is a rookie, but he was sacked 6 times tonight. Luckily, he didn’t throw any picks, or the outcome of this game might have been even worse for the Saints. There’s no definite timeline for Derek Carr’s return and Rattler would have to do in the meantime. However, a 172-yard, no-touchdown game might not cut it in the future.

The New Orleans team was forced to replace the former Southern Carolina QB with Jake Haener and he immediately made an impact in the game. He read through the coverage well enough to throw a touchdown pass to Cedrick Wilson Jr. As for Rattler, he might want to curb the pointless scrambling. Also, he fumbled the ball on a couple of occasions, and he needs to do a better job of protecting himself.

There were many instances where Cody Barton easily found his way around the Saints O-Line and hit Rattler. The Saints fans were nearly in tears watching their quarterback’s performance unfold. Hopefully, they improve upon these blunders in the next game against the LA Chargers. Fans also pray for Adebo’s faster recovery.
